Yep, that’s right, it’s still summer. It’s also time to start getting excited because August Birchboxes are shipping by by early next week. Here’s what you should read while you’re waiting for the mailman to deliver that little pink box.
- After Fashionista heard that Mila Kunis got a $7000 facial to prep for her Friends With Benefits press junket (not the first time she’s had one, either) they started looking into other ridiculously expensive beauty treatments. Would you treat yourself to a $50,000 diamond manicure if you could afford it?
- Lucky for us, WWD has information about the newest beauty innovations from the Cosmoprof North America trade show and they’re things we’ll actually be able to indulge in over the next year. According to the article, nail innovations and hair-straightening treatments were the big trends.
- Big news from two of our favorite shops this week. First we found out from Elle that Zara is finally launching an e-commerce shop that us Yankees can order from. We still have to wait until September 7th but there is light at the end of the tunnel!
- In more fun news, J. Crew will be showing at NYFW for the first time this September. Their collections have gotten increasingly lust-worthy the last several seasons so here’s to hoping this one’s the best yet. FashionEtc has the location and timing details.
P.S. Did you know that Birchbox is on Pinterest? We’re still getting our feet wet but we’ll be pinning up a storm now that we’re there. Come hang out with us there too!

I’m not one to get hung up on celeb looks, but after seeing the head-turning Marchesa Notte number that Emma Watson wore to the MTV Movie Awards after party, I’m having a bit of a green envy moment. Chartreuse is one of those colors that never gets the love it deserves—until now, that is. The neon shade is everywhere, from Zara’s color block-heavy summer collection to Cambridge Satchels, the fashion blogger favorite. Either way, I’m smitten. It’s bright and fresh and perfect for summer, especially with a fun tangerine lip!
Pair summer brights with an equally fun orange lip—we’ve got the most flattering shades for your skin tone.
