During the summer I always become hyper-aware of my health. Warm weather means I’m baring more skin (eek), and spending a lot more time outside—which gets my brain going about fitness and good eating. Since I’m more likely to spend a lazy afternoon lounging and chowing down on carbs than going for a run, I’m using these five videos to motivate me to make even more time for my health this summer.
The easy yoga routine she taught us is ideal for staying happy and healthy while traveling, but is also a great way to start each day. Yoga is by far my favorite exercise and helps keep me centered when I’m stressed.
I’m what you’d call a workout dabbler. I’ll try any form of exercise at least once—from CrossFit to road biking—and I like to mix things up from day to day. It keeps me from getting bored and challenges my muscles in a way that the monotony of running all the time doesn’t. This past weekend, I participated in the inaugural PUREfyYourSoul, a modified tri that included a run, a spin class, and a yoga session. It was my kind of workout, especially since I got the end it with a cookie from Levain Bakery.
We know that sometimes it can be tough to motivate yourself to get to the gym (especially when it’s so cold out!), which is why we teamed up with Women’s Health to bring you a 15-minute, full-body workout that you can do at home. This routine, which includes mountain climbers along with squats and kicks, is designed to help you get the most from each move and pump up your metabolism at the same time.
This past Saturday, at a time when I would normally be sleeping in, I was sweating up a storm, working out my quads and biceps. What could possibly have gotten me out of bed and doing pushups and squats? Celebrity trainer Jackie Warner. Well & Good NYC hosted a workout event with Evian Water and Warner as part of Evian’s Live Young, Get Fit! series and I was lucky enough to be invited.
If you’ve ever seen either of Warner’s Bravo reality shows, Work Outor Thintervention, you know she’s an excellent motivator. In addition to leading an intense workout in the sand at Beekman’s Garden in NYC’s South Street Seaport, Warner talked about why she teamed up with Evian, and offered tricks for staying motivated to work out. Plus, she shared a delicious and easy recipe for a shake to drink before you sweat.

Ever wondered how female athletes manage to look so great, even when they’re pushing themselves to the limit? As I watched Maria Sharapova compete in the French Open this weekend, I was awed by how put together she looked even after hours of grueling play. (I was also awed by her tennis skills but that goes without saying.) It wasn’t just her kickass tennis dress; Sharapova looked fresh-faced and gorgeous in a way that I can’t even accomplish on a regular day. From my non-expert spot on the couch, I think she was wearing an SPF tinted moisturizer, SPF lip balm, and some seriously waterproof mascara.
While we rarely sport makeup at the gym, there are those times when workouts call for a little more effort (Saturday vinyasa with that hot yoga instructor, perhaps?). Here are our recommendations for looking healthy and fresh, whether you’re on the world stage or the treadmill:
