We fell hard for Natalie Alcala last fall, when the LA-based writer and blogger spent a week guest blogging for us. In fact, we loved her posts so much that we asked her to be a contributing editor. In addition to blogging for us once a week, she’ll also be writing for the Birchbox Magazine and keeping us up to speed on all things fashion, beauty, and fun.

It happened! Last Saturday I got married, and it was as a dreamy as I hoped it would be. Everyone was spot-on when they told me that the day goes by ridiculously fast, so I’m glad that I savored every second of it. As previously mentioned, I went for a bohemian luxe look that matched my Pacific Palisades venue’s picture-perfect setting. Take a peek at some snaps, along with fashion and beauty credits, below!

I can’t believe it, but the day has finally come. My wedding is tomorrow (!) and I couldn’t be more excited. To ensure that my tresses are at their best before I walk down that aisle, I paid a visit to my go-to stylist, Janine Jarman of Shear Genius fame, to get a quick trim at her charming Hollywood salon Hairroin. (Fun fact: this spot is also a great place to score brilliant braids.)
Given that Jarman’s highly-publicized wedding looked like a dream, I couldn’t resist asking her for some helpful tips on hair for the big day. Read on for eight great takeaways, straight from the source.
1. Don’t hide behind your hair.“Have your hair in such a way that a side of your face is exposed, because you don’t want to cover your face in pictures. If you have long hair, clear a shoulder before photos or tuck a few strands behind the ear.”
We’ve been planning our dream weddings since we were five years old. So it’s no surprise that we can’t get enough of Lover.ly, a wedding inspiration site that lets you search through pics of swoon-worthy gowns, bouquets, and everything else you need for the big day. Once a week, the ladies behind Lover.ly will be sharing their best tips for getting through the craziness of the season—whether you’re standing at the altar or enjoying a view of it from the audience.
When it comes to bridal head pieces, we’re thinking beyond the veil. Smaller hair accessories, from birdcage veils to flapper-style headbands, are the looks we love for 2013. Here are our favorite picks from Lover.ly:

The birdcage veil is a classic look that is totally on-trend right now. Accented with flowers, feathers, or jewels, or just kept simple, this mini veil is incredibly versatile. We love it with a chic updo; keep it sleek with Sedu Anti-Frizz Polishing Treatment.
Nothing gets us giddy like a good wedding. Katelyn Koepke Lewis, one of our lovely freelance writers, got hitched this October and we couldn’t resist asking her to share her bridal wisdom. The former PR maven and J-school grad recently went back to her editorial roots, working as a feature writer and editor for Be U Weddings, a Chicago-based blogazine. This week, Katelyn’s sharing her newlywed advice, from bridal beauty tricks that you can use post-wedding to how to pick hostess gifts for your new in-laws.

On October 27, 2012, I reached a major life milestone and had a beauty breakthrough. First and foremost, I married the man of my dreams—and thanks to the talented Brian Sutherby in Chicago, I had classically romantic, best-version-of-myself makeup—and learned quite a bit from it. While the wonderful world of airbrushed foundation can’t be stressed enough (it will change your life), I discovered a few more attainable take-home tips. Here’s how to take makeup from your big day and use it in your daily life:

Equine inspiration is the latest craze in weddings and the more horses we see, the more we contemplate the state of our own flowing mane. Winter is slowly approaching, which means dehydrated strands will quickly follow. Keep your hair healthy and conditioned with a weekly masque or special treatment. We’re big fans of Ojon’s Damage Reverse. Since you shampoo it out after 20 minutes of application, there’s no oily residue left behind. Only super smooth, glossy locks!
