We’ve all been there: you hit the town and catch a glimpse of yourself in the taxi cab’s rearview mirror—cue the Kevin McCallister-style scream—you’re greeted by face full of slip-sliding makeup. Rather than pulling off mission impossible (a covert makeup touchup in the backseat of a moving vehicle), use these long-lasting products to look impeccably fresh—no reapplications required.
Whether you’re sharing a romantic evening with your steady or having a girls night out, Valentine’s Day is one time you definitely want to feel great. We fell hard for Natalie Alcala last fall, when the LA-based writer and blogger spent a week guest blogging for us. In fact, we loved her posts so much that we asked her to be a contributing editor. In addition to blogging for us once a week, she’ll also be writing for the Birchbox Magazine and keeping us up to speed on all things fashion, beauty, and fun.

Cara Delevingne (pronounced De-le-veen) is officially the model of the moment. A few months ago, Fashionista revealed that the 20-year-old British stunner walked in a whopping 53 shows during the spring 2013 runway season. That’s a lot of strutting!
So, why does every iconic fashion designer and acclaimed photographer want to work with her? Besides being a total charmer in front of the camera (have you seen her Shania Twain impression?) her features are spellbinding—especially those eyes. If you’re looking for some weekend beauty inspiration, here are six delightful Delevingne gazes worth replicating.

Besides it being awards season, there’s another reason why this is my favorite time of year: It’s the release of spring ad campaigns! Although I love the bundled up looks for fall, spring collections are always fresh, fun and bursting with brilliance. Plus, I get particularly hyped for the latest ads since the beauty is more experimental as well. From the slick hair and dark lip at Kurt Reiger to the peach lid and nude pout at Max Mara, here are the looks that I’m really feeling for spring.

Makeup artist Stefanie Syat is a regular at our monthly video shoots, where she keeps us camera-ready and even makes the occasional star turn. Yesterday, she came by to check out our new digs and, naturally, we used the opportunity to get some real-time beauty advice.
We took advantage of her seemingly bottomless store of product knowledge to solve the ultimate busy gal’s dilemma: (quickly!) transitioning eye makeup from day to night. Equipped with just theBalm® cosmetics’ Balm Jovi Rockstar Face Palette (which you can buy for the next 24 hours in today’s Discovery Dash sale!) she showed us how to get a mini 5 o’clock makeover. I have a tough confession to make as a beauty editor: I am the worst when it comes to putting on eye makeup. (I prefer trying new hairdos or fiddling around with eye creams, thanks.) As much as I love smoky eyes, all those brushes and shadows intimidate me, so I mostly stick with a quick application of liquid liner and mascara. When I do experiment with shadow, it can get pretty ugly. Since I have a monolid (a.k.a no crease), any shadow I put on in the morning tends to smudge and fade into one giant muddy splotch by lunchtime. Now, after bugging the makeup artists on our video shoots for some solid advice, I finally figured out what I’ve been doing wrong: I haven’t been using an eyelid primer.
Enter theBalm’s Put a Lid On It, a quick-dry primer that has made all the difference for my smoky eyes—and which some of you will be receiving in your Birchbox this month! I know, it sounds like I’m exaggerating, but here’s some photographic proof to see just how stark the difference is when you use an eye primer and when you don’t:

Although my go-to party look is a super-smoky cat eye and a rich rouge pout, some occasions deserve more experimentation. While perusing for New Year’s Eve beauty inspiration, I stumbled upon this brilliant editorial in French magazine Madame Figaro. Although the feature is meant to promote three of the season’s fiercest headbands, it also showcases three fantastic makeup options for this year’s ultimate party.

1. Victorian Vixen: Channel your modern Marie Antoinette by dipping into your spring pastel palettes for this look. After filling in brows, lightly apply Make Up For Ever’s #93 Irish Green (an exact match) or Stila’s Night Sky (a charming blue alternative) around the entire eye. Complete the look with a few coats of Alicia Silverstone for Juicy Beauty’s Pure Kissable Lip Color for the perfect pink pucker and a swipe of a creamy blush, like Jouer’s Poppy. Top your messy bun with a standout bejeweled headband and you’re good to go!
It can be a bit of a black hole trying to sort through all the anti-aging beauty products on the market. That’s why we look to the all-knowing Jonell Copeland, the editor of the Ageist Beauty, a blog that focuses on dishing out beauty advice to ladies aged 35-50. This week, she’s giving us all the deets on her holiday season musts!
Looking hungover after over-indulging in holiday festivities feels terrible, especially when you are a woman “of a certain age.” Here are our five favorite products to help you look and feel better, so you’ll be ready for the next holiday soiree!

21 Drops Aromatherapy ($29)
We’re typically not to into new age-y cures, aromatherapy and the like. But, there’s no getting around the fact that this stuff just works. Just a few dabs of the all-natural oils in 21 Drops “04 Hangover” on your temples and pulse points will banish bloat and nix nausea.

I’ve been using highlighter for a few years now, but until recently I’ve pretty much only used it to sculpt my cheekbones for a night out. A few months ago I discovered theBalm’s Mary-Lou Manizer—a shimmery powder illuminator—and have had my eyes opened to a whole new world of highlighter techniques. Click through and learn three unique ways to get pretty with this one product.

We’ll admit it. We’ve been following the Jessica and Justin developments for a while now, and were pretty psyched when we found out that they were finally tying the knot in a secret ceremony this week in Italy. Now that they’ve made it official—for a rumored $6.5 million dollars, no less—we’re waiting with bated breath to see the first pictures of Jessica’s dress and, of course, her hair and makeup. Since we’ll have to wait until the next issue of People hits newsstands to see it, we decided to put our prediction skills to the test. Here are our best guesses for what Jessica’s look was:
