Come February, you’ll be able to dress like Kate Middleton, Michelle Obama, Oprah, and Zoe Saldana

While you’re waiting to get your hands on the Karl Lagerfeld for Shu Uemura collection, feel free to take any of these popular Shu Uemura hair products for a spin!
Well, they did it. After months of anticipation, the Missoni Go International Collection for Target has hit stores — and it’s caused quite a ruckus. In fact, it’s managed to crash Target’s presumably robust servers…Whoops! While you’re waiting patiently to buy your zig-zaggy goods, why not get inspired by vintage Missoni (yes, that’s Ms. Moss) and try out a ’70s goddess look? Here’s what you’ll need:
- Lots of bronzer. Skip the sparkle and go with something matte and tawny, like Cargo’s version.
- Lots of eyeliner. Messy is good, and make sure to line both the upper and lower lids. Smudge it out.
Watch our video and learn how to apply bronzer the right way.
Some of us are guilty of evading our birthdays in every way possible as the years go on, but Maybelline’s Great Lash Mascara is ringing in its 40th in style—with an extreme makeover. Leaving the classic watermelon shades intact, three designers—Max Azria, Tracy Reese, and Vivienne Tam—will create their own interpretations of the tube. Even better, starting in August, these limited edition hot commodities will be sold at Target for $6.99 a piece. Just another reason to pop into the superstore that makes it just about impossible to leave with only what you came for.
In the meantime, check out other star mascaras in our Birchbox Shop.
In the spirit of the new year, I tossed my grungy cosmetics bag. Now I need a new one (the ziplock bag I’m currently using is a little too bag lady chic). I need something for travel and something for everyday, and I’d love to for it to be easy to clean. What are your favorites?
For affordability and generally cheeriness, you can’t beat Sonia Kashuk for Target. Every season she rolls out a new collection of fun prints, from cheetah to island-inspired blossoms. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes, but I like the valet style (pictured above) because the detachable interior clear case is perfect for bringing on flights.
Trust Paris-based fashion line Paul & Joe to make bags that are both stylish and practical. We love this two-piece set because you can keep your main makeup in the large compartment and carry the smaller bag with you during the day. The sweet print has a vintage chic feel — we could see French siren Marion Cotillard tucking her lipstick in it.
Henri Bendel carries a selection of whimsical bags that are compact and relatively affordable. The plastic-coated nylon is easy to clean, and the semi-stiff material keeps makeup protected from the various pokey, sharp things in your purse.
And, for something a little different, we spied this simple zippered pouch at Bird, the ever-hip boutique and online shop. It’s made from vintage Japanese ikat fabric and is just big enough for your compact, Stila Lip Glaze, NARS Multiple, and Benefit BADgal. You know, the essentials.
