So, the secret’s out — for July, we’re collaborating with fashion designer Cynthia Rowley on a special curated Birchbox as well as a limited edition box. If that wasn’t enough, we also capped the week off with a marathon video and photo shoot — five videos! Five! We’re still catching our breath, but we didn’t want to let you tumble into the weekend without a little reading inspiration. This week, we’re doing things a little bit different. Here are the summer reads that Birchbox staffers are talking about:
Visit From the Goon Squad, Jennifer Egan: “I’ve been hesitant to read novels on my iPad but I bought this last weekend and whipped through it in two days. I loved Egan’s last book,The Keep, and this one was just as good. It’s a sprawling peek at the music industry from the 70s to present day, as told through the eyes of a diverse cast of characters. I started looking forward to subway rides, just so I had time to read — loved the rhythm of the pacing and the transporting descriptions.” — Mollie
No Angel, Penny Vicenzi: “I don’t want this book to end but thankfully there are two more after this. It’s a really popular British series about a legendary publishing family — I can’t put it down.” — Claire
Can You Get Hooked on Lip Balm?, The Beauty Brains: “I like how this book has real, practical advice and answers to all our technical beauty questions. Whether they’re delving into the difference between antiperspirant and deodorant or explaining how tubing mascara works, they cut through the marketing and get straight to the science. I’m a geek so I love this stuff.” — Lorelei
Have a great weekend, everyone!
