If you haven’t heard of the online comedy series SRSLY (pronounced “seriously”) yet, let us be the proud first folks to introduce you. If you have heard of it, then you’ll know why we love the two brilliant NYU and Upright Citizen Brigade alumnae behind it. Alexandra Fiber and Danielle Gibson’s short, snappy videos are loosely based on their 20-something lives in New York. The hilarious moments adeptly touch on experiences that many of us have every day. All this week, they’re sharing their beauty inspirations in their typical witty style.
It’s the time of year when a lot of us are on the road, and not in the glamorous, Kerouac-ian, Kristen Stewart-and-two-hot-guys kind of way. We’re up against airplane air that dries out your skin, practically non-existent carry on liquid allowances, and bad lighting in public transit bathrooms. SRSLY’s got you covered with our best survival tips. Click through to find out how we get through even the worst travel snafus:
Spoiler alert: Some of our members will be receiving exclusive lace-printed Twistbands in their September Birchboxes!
As much as we love summer, fall fashion is so much more fun. Load of layers, cozy sweaters, kicky boots—there are too many options. One trend we’re particularly excited about this season is lace. We love the girly texture so much that we teamed up with Twistband to create a custom collection of lace-printed hair ties. We’ll be sampling these ultra-feminine hair ties to many of our members this month—get excited!
The exclusive set of six hair ties is the perfect way to add the ultra-feminine fabric to your wardrobe. When we created the collection we took color inspiration from the Fall 2012 catwalks—shows like Chanel, Diane von Furstenberg, and Lanvin. Over the weekend at eco-friendly designer Stella McCartney’s fall 2012 fashion show, models on the runway were sporting a very eye-catching look: cobalt blue lashes.
New York Fashion Week is still a month away but we’ve been getting lots of inspiration from the pre-fall collection presentations going on this week. Our favorite so far is Stella McCartney, whose Monday night presentation featured models with dewy skin (courtesy of Sunday Riley) and a bright flash of blue liner.
Stella McCartney has just announced her second scent, and its delicate sounding name, L.I.L.Y, was inspired by something very close to eco-conscious designer’s heart.
Amanda Graber, our new director of PR & strategic partnerships, just jetted off to Georgia for the weekend and we were dying to find out what she packed for a few days in the hot, humid, sticky South. From mascara to maxi dresses, here’s what she brought with her.
Tibi dress, Stella McCartney ’Sheer Stella Eau de Toilette’, Stila Glamoureyes, No-Ad sunscreen, Christine Chin sunscreen, Essie polishes, hair tie
Maxi dresses: The Georgian heat is a killer so less-is-more is definitely my moto when I’m there. I’ll be packing this Yumi Kim dress because it’s effortless and airy.
Hair ties: Alex and Isabelle are my fave, they do the trick. (Hair must be up at all times in the South.) Plus, they also look pretty.
Suncream: No-Ad suncream is my go-to when it comes to SPF on my body. I love that it’s not oily and smells amazing. For my face I use beauty guru Christine Chin SPF 25. (Side note: She gives the best facial in NYC.)
Mascara: Stila Glamoureyes is absolutely perfect for vacation, it stays on all day and makes your eyes really pop.
Perfume: I like to alternate my scents throughout the seasons, so for summer I am wearing Stella McCartney’s ‘Sheer Stella Eau de Toilette. I adore the vintage-looking bottle it comes in because it really dresses up my vanity table.
Nail Polish: I don’t like to wear too much makeup during the summer and let my hands do the talking. I am a true Essie gal and I try to pick a new color every time I visit the salon especially in the summer when you can be more adventurous with color. I also love mixing polishes and one of my favorite combos is Sugar Daddy and Fed Up.
