Aside from being talented and having worked at a startup before, Kelly fits right in at Birchbox for another reason: she loves to snack. Ah, a girl after our own hearts. We must also admit that it’s pretty fantastic to have yet another staffer with enviable hair — Kelly is a daily source of inspiration because her ‘do hasn’t looked anything less than perfect even once since she started. Sure, it might just be good genes, but we still plan to ask her for her blowout secret sometime in the near future.

Fun fact: I’m a snack-food addict and usually found raiding the Lucky Charms stash in the Birchbox kitchen.
Beauty confession: I’m terrible at remembering to remove my eye makeup at night.
Currently loving: Our limited edition Here Comes the Bride box. As a recently engaged girl, this is at the top of my bridal shower wish list (hint hint!).
Worth the splurge: Tinted moisturizer. It’s the one thing I always have on.
Best beauty trick: Fill in your brows! It makes a bare face look polished.
Excellent advice! Pick up some arch-grooming advice in our Brow Quick Fix.
We’re a little behind on team intros, so prepare yourself for a barrage of new names and faces to learn. Today’s awesome staffer: Dan Zeehandelaar, our Strategy and Operations Manager. (That’s code for: He makes things work.) Not only does Dan have a pretty awesome last name, he’s also a licensed pilot and an expert on fancy coffee beans. We’re still working on beefing up his grooming know-how.

You may or may not have noticed, but we’ve been a little behind on our team intros. Deena came to us from Gilt a few months ago to lead our marketing team and is revolutionizing the way we do things. Somehow, after hours spent working on customer acquisition, search advertising, and Google Analytics, she has time to be a rockstar mom of two and a yoga instructor! We’re not sure how she does it, but we’re definitely jealous of her ability to stay Zen while working in such a fast-paced office!
Deena Bahri, VP Marketing
Hometown: Wyckoff, New Jersey
Beauty confession: I don’t own a blow dryer. Or foundation.
Currently loving: Deborah Lippmann thanks to Birchbox! I was not a nail polish girl before I encountered her products. But for the last four weeks, my nails have been painted in the most outrageous colors and I can’t stop staring at them.
Worth the splurge: Korres Showergel in Guava. It may not get you cleaner than regular soap, but it sure makes you smell delicious.
Best beauty trick: I use my eyebrow brush on my eyelashes post-mascara application to help separate and soften my look.
We’ve mentioned Alicia on our blog in the past (she has a killer vanity stuffed with products), but we haven’t officially introduced her yet. It’s only been a couple months, but we can’t even remember how we managed to get our work done without her. Not only does she kick butt at creating our product pages and articles, but she also comes from six years at Estee Lauder, which means she is in-the-know about beauty. (But we like to think we’re showing her a few new tricks, too.)
Alicia, Production Manager

Best beauty trick: I put eye primer on my lips before applying lipstick. I use Estee Lauder’s Stay-In-Place EyeShadow Base.
Our creative team has gone from a one-woman show to a two-person force, thanks to our new graphic designer, Charlie. (Yippee, Jess finally has some company!) If we had to sum up what Charlie does in a nutshell: she makes things look pretty. Very pretty. From creating eye-catching newsletters to helping source beautiful imagery for content to assisting with our recent redesign, she wears many artsy hats and we ♥ her.

It’s hard to believe, but we’ve been in business for almost a year — eep! We don’t feel like we have all the answers but we have learned a lot over the past months. And we’re willing to share! We’re teaming up with Evisors, an online marketplace for advisors and advice-seekers (very cool - check it out!) for a special online chat. Tomorrow, July 29th, Birchbox co-founders Katia Beauchamp and Hayley Barna will be participating in a live webinar about entrepreneurship and startup careers.
Now’s your chance to ask them your most burning startup questions — How do you write a business plan? What’s the best to scale? Should you do Happy Hour on Thursdays or Fridays?
Come chat with us tomorrow from 10-11am!
A few weeks ago, we introduced you to Ally and Emily, our brand-new operations gurus. Now we have three more to add to their ranks. These girls are the superheroes of our company and without them we’d be lost (and even more importantly, so would all your customer requests, queries, and comments). Meet the newest members of our Operations team.

As esteemed alumni of Harvard Business School, Katia and Hayley know that HBS students are skilled at many things, including: constructing elaborate Excel sheets; organizing costume parties; having too much fun (see: costume parties); and helping companies grow and thrive. So it only made sense that we would seduce two lovely b-schoolers to intern with us this summer. We are happy to have Freya and Elizabeth on board for a few months of intense strategy, analyzing and, of course, fun. Say hi!

Remember Bianca? For a long time, she was single-handedly overseeing all our customer service — for all our 30,000 subscribers. That’s a LOT of phone calls. Thankfully, we’ve finally gotten her some help — and stellar help at that! We have two brand-new operations gurus, Emily and Ally, both of whom are adept at solving problems large and small. They’re also incredibly stylish (Emily most recently managed Herve Leger by Max Azria store) and charming.
