What’s on the Birchbox Editors’ Desks is a series of blog posts where we share some of what we’re excited about right now through pictures of our desks. Just this week we introduced you to one of the newest additions to the Birchbox fam, Molly (not to be confused with Mollie, our Director of Content), and already she’s making a big impact in the office. We’re constantly admiring her effortlessly cool outfits from Madewell and snagging some of the awesome Birchbox swag on her desk (tattoos, what!). She’s also an avid fragrance collector and certified beauty nut so we thought we’d give you a little peek at her desk today. Enjoy!
Starbucks: I’m actually not a lover of Starbucks but there’s one right downstairs and when it’s 5:00 and you have two minutes before a meeting it’s kind of inevitable. Today they were celebrating their 40th anniversary and giving out free treats so I got a mini lemon square with my soy misto. Free food —> Starbucks just racked up a few points in my book.
- Chantecaille palette: I l-o-v-e Chantecaille and this eyeshadow palette is gorge! The powders are so silky and there’s one color in particular that I’ve already made an impressive dent in.
Tocca samples: Tocca is such a beautiful brand; I’m fanatical about their candles and I cannot wait to try out all these fragrance samples. Stella, Cleopatra, Colette, Brigitte — all my favorite ladies are present and accounted for. And the packaging is so romantic! That lavender bow may very well make its way into my hair quite soon.
Weleda Wild Rose Deoderant: Just started test-driving this stuff yesterday. I really hate the idea of using an anti-perspirant, but my past forays into natural deodorants have been less than successful. So far I am stink-free so I’m crossing my fingers that this is the one! Wish me luck.
Jo Malone English Pear & Freesia Cologne: Fragrance has such a powerful effect on my mood; this zesty floral is staying on my desk as a pick-me-up until it hits 80 degrees out. So that’ll be a while I guess…
Own Lip Therapy in True Mint: These lip treatments just came over this morning. I’ve been re-applying the mint flavor all day! It’s hydrating and plumping in a futuristic-looking roll-on tube. The minty-ness is really refreshing and it has a super tingly effect on your lips. It actually kind of burns a little, but in a totally awesome way.
Revlon Nail Polish in Siren: I absolutely can’t wait to hop on the orange-hued band-wagon this summer! I’m a big nail polish girl, and I’m also pretty darn good at doing my own nails and the nails of others (not to toot my own horn). This winter, I’ve been obsessing over a dark eggplant shade from OPI called Midnight in Moscow, but I’m just about ready for a full-throttle leap across the color wheel to this bangin’ neon orange.

Welcome to March and another edition of What’s on the Birchbox Editors’ Desks, a series where we show you our desks so you can see just how messy or organized we all are! This week were taking another peek at our leader Mollie’s desk. She always has fun products!
Keep Calm and Have a Cupcake: There are two things I do exceedingly well: eat sweets and stress out. My sister Annie gave me these cute notecards to remind me to take deep breaths.
Barbara’s Snackimals: I love animal crackers more than most five-year-olds. Since I’ve named myself Birchbox’s official snackmaster, I ensure that we always have a supply in the office. They’re organic and fairly low in sugar so I’m going to call them healthy.
Urban Decay Afterglow Glide-On Cheek Tint in Crush: Our guest blogger Stripes and Sequins loves this blush, and I’m a huge fan too. It looks crazy pink but gives you a pretty ‘just exercised’ flush.
Dr. Dennis Gross EZ4U Facial Towelettes: I spend a good part of my day putting on and taking off products. These wipes are great because they have moisturizing and toning ingredients in them — my skin doesn’t get that tight, dry feeling.
Estee Lauder Shadow Stick Duo in Bronze Goddess: This chubby eyeshadow pencil is my new favorite toy. I fail at eyeshadow blending so I love the idea of being able to add a simple swipe of color with a pencil. There’s a bright gold on one end and a ruddy bronze on the other — both are incredibly flattering.
NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dragon Girl and Tarte LipSurgence Matte Lip Stain in Lively: Again, these take the guesswork out of makeup. Just stay in the lines and you get awesomely pigmented color. These brights - red and fuchsia, respectively - are my new staples.
Blackberry: I hate this thing. Who wants to send me a Verizon iPhone?
For more of our favorite things, hop on over to Birchbox.
It’s no secret that we’re pretty
big huge massive fans of NARS over here at Birchbox Headquarters. We just sent out samples of the Orgasm Illuminator in our February Birchboxes, and are running a huge contest right now. So it seemed like fate when we saw today’s Refinery29 interview with Francois Nars himself. The French charmer had plenty to say about our (and everyone else’s) favorite color range, Orgasm: “You never know which color will be a best-seller. I designed the first Orgasm blush the way I design all my colors and it just happened that the public fell in love with the name and the color. It didn’t seem that daring, but everyone loved it.”
That’s an understatement. NARS Orgasm blush is such a runaway success that it’s spawned a empire of products, from lip gloss to nail polish. If you’re a Birchbox member, you received a sample of the NARS Orgasm Illuminator in your February Birchbox — lucky you! Now, we’re giving you a chance to win some more NARS products. We’re giving away $300 worth of NARS products — Simply visit our Facebook sweepstakes page and let us know how you use your illuminator AND what new product you’d like to see added to the Orgasm family. The sweepstakes ends March 8th so hop on over the re now!
We can’t guarantee that NARS will release the product you vote for, but you never know! After all, he did tell R29, “It’s always been my dream to do a fragrance. I like a bit of weird and eclectic elements white flowers, musk, smoky scentsall my favorites aren’t mainstream…maybe one day there will be an Orgasm fragrance!” We don’t know about you but we’re ready for it!

Chances are, if you’ve contacted Birchbox as some point, you’ve talked to our customer service ninja, Crystal. She’s the first one to answer the phone and respond to emails and makes sure that each and every one of our customers has a wonderful experience with Birchbox. We’d be lost without her! Since she’s the closest person in the office to all of our customers, we thought it would be fun to see exactly what’s going on at her desk today. For someone so busy she certainly has a clean desk! (How does she do that?)
My tiny turkish tea cup: My favorite item on my desk. It makes me get up frequently for quick runs to the water fountain, and keeps my water ice cold.
Korres Basil Lemon Body Butter: I love this body butter. It smells so fresh and clean, and keeps my hands oh so soft. Bianca (our other customer service guru!) thinks they are too soft to be real!
Deborah Lippmann Naked Nail Polish: It’s the perfect barely-there color and I’ve been testing this one out at my desk all week.
Josie Maran Cream Blush: I rarely wear a ton of makeup but this blush goes on super smooth and the compact is cute and shiny (and biodegradable)!
Simpkins Traditional Sweets: The metal tin is my favorite mixed travel sweets. A different mint for every mood. Of course snacks are an important part of working at Birchbox!
"Of course I always have Birchbox stickers, boxes, and post-its on hand for quick notes!"

We took a brief respite from our regular “Editor Desks” posts during Social Media Week and Fashion Week but we’re back! This week were branching out to other Birchbox team members, specifically Alta, our Brand Relationship Manager. Alta works directly with all our different brand partners to make them super happy. She’s a million times more organized than us editors (notice the neat files and binders?) and, our resident scrunchie expert (more on that soon!). See all our Editor Desk posts here.
Whish Body Butter (in Lemongrass) - I’ve been eyeing this brand for some time now, and just recently had the chance to test out their highly coveted Body Butter. The fresh lemon grass scent is subtle enough that it doesn’t compete with my perfume. The formula is also devine - for someone who has very dry skin, this the holy grail of body lotions :)
AHAVA Starter Kit & Dermud Foot Cream - After sampling the brand’s life-saving Dermud Hand Cream in January’s box, I was excited to discover AHAVA’s newest edition: the “Reborn” collection, which includes a number of revamped products and remedies. P.S. I also love the Dermud foot cream. For someone who thinks body cream can be a universal remedy - especially for your feet - think again. Totally worth the switch!
Jouer Makeup Brushes- When it comes to treating your skin right, there’s one thing I make sure to practice - gentle makeup brushing. As someone who wears concealer, powder and blush on a daily basis, I need the best brushes to both master my look and protect my sensitive skin. Jouer produces a line of luxury makeup brushes that do just that, and then some.
Oscar Blandi’s Olio di Jasmine Hair Serum - My hair has a mind of it’s own, particularly in the way of frizz and flyways. Oscar Blandi’s Jasmin Serum is my latest obsession, which I have happily incorporated into my morning hair routine. At first, I was skeptical since most serums leave my hair feeling heavy and oily. But not this one! And just a little goes a long way. One pump and my hair goes from an unruly mess to silky smooth.
Pick up our favorite AHAVA, Jouer, and Oscar Blandi Products in our Birchbox Shop!
Welcome to the third edition of “What’s on the Birchbox Editors’ Desks,” where we give you a little peek into our days at work, and highlight the products we’re testing right now. This week, Birchbox Editor Meredith shows us what she’s loving, including a little lunchtime snack! Check it out below and in case you missed it, here are our first and second posts on the subject.
Stila Custom Color blush- This is my new obsession. It reacts to your skin’s pH to create a one-of-a-kind shade just for you. I’ll be the first to admit that the neon glow-in-the-dark hue is rather intimidating, but if you use it sparingly, it delivers a perfectly girly, pretty flush.
Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare daily sunscreen towelette (SPF 30)- Because I am so fair, I am big on sun protection. These single application towelettes make it easy for you to apply on the go.
The editors at Birchbox seem to have continuously messy desks — mostly because we’re always trying out new products, and perhaps because we’re also a bit messier than the rest of our uber-organized office. Either way, it’s fun to share which new (and sometimes old, but classic) products we’re trying on any given day. Here’s what’s happening in my space today:
iPod Nano: Because I couldn’t live without mini-music breaks to listen to Oh Land.
Anne Taintor mirror: “Beauty: it’s not just a job, it’s an adventure.” How true.
Napoleon Perdis Autopilot Lip Service: Smooths, conditions, and preps lips for bright lipstick!
Pomega5 Green Tea Mattifying Moisturizer: This daily moisturizer has a fragrance that reminds me of Trix Cereal but unlike the cereal, it’s natural and doesn’t contain any synthetic fragrances or dyes.
Kate Somerville ExfoliKate Clearing Exfoliating Treatment: Birchbox Editor Meredith Stebbins just brought this back from the Kate Somerville preview. It’s targeted to acne-prone skin and has Salicylic Acid and Active Tea Tree Oil to get down and
dirty clean in your pores. I see clear, glowing skin in my future.
Ahava Dermud Nourishing Hand Cream: Our entire office is obsessed with this hand cream. It’s the perfect moisturizer without the grease. Small enough to toss it in my bag and use anytime I need a little hydration.
Victoria’s Secret Beauty Rush Lip Gloss: This gloss is really low maintenance. It’s shiny but not sticky or overly sparkly.
Tarte Cheek Stain in Tipsy: This stain is so light and just a bit peachy, it makes me look fresh and awake even when I haven’t had time for a morning espresso.
Jouer Luminizing Moisture Tint: The quickest way to even out skin tone and give your face a little glow without looking like you’re wearing a ton of makeup.
Check out the Birchbox Shop for winter skin savers like Ahava and Jouer.
