Packing List: New York City

image

After a 15-hour train ride and lugging my three overstuffed suitcases up to my studio apartment, I’m proud to say that I’ve been a New Yorker for about one week. As an Ohioan and Midwesterner, ditching fields of corn and my Jeep for skyscrapers and the subway required some selective packing decisions—especially in the beauty department. Here’s a list of the essentials I couldn’t tackle big city life without:

1. Boo-Boo Coverup Concealer: I’m a constant victim of stress acne , so when the hustle and bustle of the city makes my skin revolt, this cream hides and heals blemishes. Win-win.

Packing List: Italy

Next week social media intern Julia is heading to Italy, first to Liguria and then Sicily. She’ll be spending time with her family, swimming in the Mediterranean, and of course indulging in lots of focaccia. (Bring us, too!) Here’s what she’s packing in her valigia

1. Curly Hair Solutions Curl Keeper: Vacation is when I like to take a break from constantly blow drying and straightening my hair so this curl keeper is the only styling product I am bringing along- it leaves my curls soft and bouncy, plus it doesn’t build up or feel heavy.

Packing List: New Hampshire

This weekend, I’m heading out of the sticky city and up to the fresh air of Andover, NH. I’m lucky enough to have a friend with a lakefront house, and even luckier that she doesn’t say no when I ask if she’d like some company. Happily, there isn’t much to do except kayak, cook with the bounty of the local farmer’s market, and make our annual pilgrimage to the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen’s Fair (which is as awesome as it sounds). Product-wise, it’s all about restoring and repairing—here’s what I’m bringing along.

Packing List: Disney World!

This year I’m braving the holiday crowds and heading to Disney World for the Fourth of July weekend! While I’m down there, I’m also going to visit Universal Studios to check out the recently expanded home of The Simpsons—Springfield—and did I mention I’ll be celebrating my birthday? It’s bound to be a fun amusement park-filled week! Here’s what I plan on taking along to make the most of my time in Orlando:

1. Longchamp Le Pliage
I love that this bag is water-resistant and that it has a zipper, so I don’t have to worry about things accidentally falling out.

After too many trips lugging a 50-pound bag from bus to subway to walking across a city, I realized I had to pare down my packing. I certainly don’t abide by the ‘leave half of what you want to take’ rule, but I do have a few pieces that I use as a base for each trip. Sometimes, on a quick trip, I might even just stick to these basics:
