Packing List: Ecuador!

imageToday, I’m hopping on a plane and heading to Ecuador’s hermoso capital city Quito for a dear friend’s wedding. In addition to comfy walking shoes (I plan to do a lot of solo exploring) and my trusty passport, here are some of the travel must-haves I’ll be stashing in my carry-on:

1. Oscar de la Renta Something Blue

According to our friends at The Knot, it’s a faux pas to attend a wedding empty handed. With that in mind, I’m packing this timeless scent to hand over to the bride-to-be on the big day. Inspired by the iconic designer’s silk and lace wedding gowns, the refined blend has sparkling notes of mandarin, linden blossom, and bourbon vanilla.

For me, summer time is all about renewal. Renewing my love of outdoor beer gardens, crisp rhubarb (preferably in pie or cocktail form), and—yep, you guessed it—light floral scents. Here are three fresh-smelling perfumes I’m psyched to wear this season:

Top 7 Best Dressed at the 2013 Oscars

This year’s Oscars have been a parade of surprises—and not in the way you’d think. From minimal color to minimal volume to minimal jewelry, the red carpet was ruled by neutrals and bare shoulders. While there were certainly a few over-the-top gowns, the fashions erred more on the side of demure femininity. Here are our top six favorite looks—and we want to hear yours too!

  • Jennifer Lawrence in Dior: We’re not ranking our picks, but if we had to vote for best dressed it would go hands down to the Silver Linings Playbook star. The pale pink, delightfully poofy gown set off her pale complexion perfectly. And can we talk about the delicate jewels draped down her back? Amazing.
  • Naomi Watts in Armani: This memorable sparkler definitely has the coolest neckline we’ve seen in a while. We’re thrilled that Watts wore her hair up to show off the dress’ geometric lines.
  • Charlize Theron in Dior Haute Couture: This fitted white peplum stunner highlights every single one of the actress’ features, especially her supershort haircut. You are a vision, Charlize.
  • Amanda Seyfried in Alexander McQueen: Halters are hard to pull off but the Les Misérables star looked radiant in her beaded number.
  • Jessica Chastain in Armani Prive: Redheads take note: Nude is definitely your color. Our jaws dropped when we saw the Zero Dark Thirty star hit the red carpet. Chastain’s retro waves and red lipstick made her look like the epitome of Hollywood glamour.
  • Amy Adams in Oscar de la Renta: Uhhhh. Princess gowns at the Oscars are amazing. Princess gowns made by Oscar de la Renta are even better. This powder blue frock is beyond dreamy.
  • Jennifer Hudson Roberto Cavalli Couture: Sleeves, baby! The singer stunned in form-fitting navy blue, proving that you can be sexy and covered up at the same time.

3 Spring Trends and Fragrances to Add to Your Wardrobe (Now!)

image

We approach scents much like we do our wardrobe: mixing, matching, and rotating fragrances throughout the season. Is it any wonder that our favorite fashion looks tend to influence both our outfits and our spritzes? While reporting at the Fall/Winter 2013 shows, we spotted three trends that we can’t wait to add to our closets. And since we’re never ones to selectively shop, here are the fragrances that will be joining our fragrance wardrobe.

A Flirty Lace Bridesmaid Dress: Guest Blogger

It seems like we have an endless list of weddings to attend these days, which means we’re constantly in need of some serious style advice. Thankfully, Ilana Stern, Founder and CEO of Weddington Way, an online boutique filled with gorgeous wedding party style picks, is sharing her wisdom with us all week long.

Top designers like Alexander McQueen, Dolce & Gabbana and Roberto Cavalli went crazy for lace in their Spring 2013 collections. The delicate fabric was all over runways in unexpected hues and with fresh new iterations like sheer lace panels and laser cut patterns. While this material is nothing new to wedding dresses, we love the idea of a bridal party dressed in all lace—especially in fun colors!
