We’re always talking about the staffers in the Birchbox office, but the ones who you interact with everyday are the ladies of our hard-working Ops team. These fabulous femmes handle all of your customer service woes. We wanted to give you a chance to get to know them even better—so here’s a peek at who’s on the other side of the phone.

After Hurricane Sandy and last week’s Nor’easter, we went from a stroll through fall to a full-on sprint into winter. The not-so-subtle push from Mother Nature has urged us to get ready (and excited) for winter ahead of schedule. Here are the latest gadgets, clothes, and amazing beauty products that some of our team can’t wait to use this season:
If you get a brand new hairstyle that usually means a whole new hair care regimen. (Photo: Thinkstock.com)
Just before Labor Day this year, I colored my hair for the first time ever. I usually have your run-of-the-mill sleek Asian black hair, and felt like I needed to make a big change—so I got serious red highlights. (Thank you, Mad Men for the inspiration.) While I love the color and the touch of sass that came with it, learning how to handle dyed strands—no lying on white pillow cases while hair is wet!—has taken me on a whole new hair care journey. Here are five products that I’m using to keep my newly tinted tresses happy and healthy:
We’re guilty of sticking with the same hair cut for years—if it’s not broke, why fix it?—but that can be a little boring. But not everyone has our issue. Paulina, one of our amazing operations associates, is always eyeing new cuts and styles. She’ll be sharing her tress inspiration and tips every other week here via her Hairistocracy column.
Summer vacations are about to kick-off and in less than a week, I’m boarding a cruise for a week-long tour through Mexico and the Caribbean! Obviously, I can’t help but muse over the hair products and accessories I’m going to pack to make sure I’ve got gorgeous hair from day one.
Signing onto Free People’s blog, BLDG 25, yesterday, I stumbled over a sneak peek of their May catalog, which was shot in Miami. This is totally the look I’m going for.
If you’ve mastered the French braid already, it’s time to move on to something a bit more advanced. Watch this week’s tutorial, where Mollie shows us how to get a Dutch braid. If it looks familiar it’s probably because we’re drawing inspiration from Katniss Everdeen, the awesome heroine of the Hunger Games.

You may have noticed lots of your favorite brands coming out with oil-based products in the last year, and for good reason. These products are a far cry from the greasy, dirty kind of oil that clogs your pores and weighs down your hair. In fact, these oils are all about working with your skin and hair type to either cleanse or hydrate. My favorite cleansing oils fit the old adage “like attracts like” by pulling out the bad oils and leaving skin with plenty of moisture, not stripped. My must-have hydrating oils sink in immediately and are much longer-lasting than moisturizers. Check out a few of my all-time faves below.
