Breaking news: Oscar de la Renta will be releasing his first collection of polishes this October. The number of colors has yet to be finalized, but it will likely be six shades. We happily got a sneak peek at three of them at today’s fall 2012 show. Red Carnation is a classic crimson, Aubergine is a deep eggplant, and Larimar is a lovely light blue.

The show: Wes Gordon
Hair: Bumble and bumble
Makeup: Charlotte Willer for Maybelline
Nails: CND
The Vibe: Strong, defined brows and provocative red lips competed for the spotlight at the Wes Gordon show this afternoon. “We’re going for a youthful, feminine look that reflects the tailored collection,” lead makeup artist Charlotte Willer said. Willer and her crew filled in models’ brows with Maybelline’s Master Shape Brow Pencil and saturated their lips with Very Cherry No. 635. Eyes were left intentionally bare with nary a trace of shadow, liner, or mascara, while the subtly contoured cheeks came courtesy of two different shades of blush: Dream Bouncy Blush in No. 60 and No. 5.

Show: rag & bone
Hair: Guido, Redken
Makeup: Gucci Westman, Revlon
The Vibe: Rock ‘n’ Roll traveler. “The look is as if Patti Smith lived in India,” said Gucci Westman, Revlon’s global artistic director. “I wanted the skin to be really porcelain-y and the eyes to be sort of rough.” To give the complexion a cooler effect, Westman layered primers, a little bit of white foundation, and some luminizers. But the emphasis was really all on the eyes. “I am doing different textures of eyeliner and only on the bottom,” said Westman who used not one, not two, but three different black Revlon liners: the Crème Gel Liner, the Luxurious Color Eye Liner, and the Liquid Liner.

The Show: Katie Gallagher
Hair: Cesar Ramirez at Dop Dop
Makeup: Robert Greene, M.A.C. Cosmetics
Nails: Fleury Rose for Color Club
The Vibe: The forest was the inspiration behind Katie Gallagher’s show, so it should come as no surprise that green was a pervasive color theme. Lead M.A.C. makeup artist, Robert Greene, created bold, bright eyes using Lime shadow over Charcoal shadow. “I’m using really unconventional colors to create a new kind of smokey eye,” explained Greene. “We’re extending the color really far down on the lower section and doing tons of blending so it’s like a watermark with no edges.” To emphasize the eyes, the rest of the face was kept monotone, with pale lips, a bit of tawny blush, and no mascara.
So fun.
