I’m a huge fan of Camilla Belle’s sophisticated high arches, but somehow I’ve always struggled to translate that to my own brows. That’s where Anastasia Beverly Hills comes in. We’re giving away three gift sets worth over $150 from the celebrity-favorite brand, each one filled with products to get you — and your brows — looking perfect. The three winners will receive Anastasia’s bestselling line erasing serum, brow kit, mascara, eye shadow palette, and lip gloss. It’s everything you need to look red carpet-ready every day.
Visit the Birchbox Facebook page now to choose your favorite celebrity brows and to enter. This sweeps ends Monday, so don’t delay!
You’d be forgiven if you associate the term ‘natural regimen’ with convention-rejecting hippies that rock their uneven complexions and lifeless hair with pride. But more and more, green is not just chic — it’s sexy. Opting into an environmentally-conscious lifestyle by no means necessitates the sacrifice of glamor or sex appeal. To meet the demand for eco-beauty, tons of brands have popped onto the radar over the past few years: Weleda, Jurlique, Dr. Hauschka, Suki, and Juice Beauty, just to name a few. These companies’ commitment to green differs (some pride themselves on their ingredients, other on their minimal packaging, and some on their kind manufacturing practices), but they’re all making investments because this is not just a passing fad, it’s a way of life.
And no surprise, some of my favorite Hollywood leading ladies — Natalie Portman, Rachel McAdams, Gwyneth Paltrow, Julianne Moore, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and Alicia Silverstone — are all advocates of green beauty.
As Paltrow puts it on her blog, GOOP (btw, she calls blogging “gooping” as in “I think I gooped about this before…”):
“Going green” is no longer just the ideology of left-wing hippies. Nor is it a trend. We are living in exciting times. We are confronted with the challenge of sustaining our food, our water and our environment. We are changing things. It’s big.
Some of Paltrow’s favorites brands are ones that we heart too, like Pangea Organics and Weleda.
At last night’s Oscars there were plenty of red carpet triumphs (and blunders—I won’t get into that), but the prettiest looks of the evening were all well complimented with to-die-for hairstyles. I’ve rounded up my eight favorites of the night. Click through and scroll to the bottom to cast your vote for the best hair!
Mila Kunis: She blew me away on all fronts: her dress, her makeup, her physique. If I had a pick for overall prettiest of the evening, I would absolutely choose her—no doubt about it. I especially loved how the star’s romantic updo perfectly complimented her super-feminine Ellie Saab stunner. Bravo, Mila! Bravo!
Now that we’ve had a little time to digest last night’s Golden Globes Awards, we’re ready to announce our own personal awards. There were plenty of highs and lows but here are our personal picks and pans.
Most Likely to Hate Their Stylist Now: Natalie Portman. Now, don’t get us wrong: we love Nat and she did look positively glowy (we want that pink lipstick!). But really, that Viktor & Rolf dress was a positive trainwreck. Baby pink plus fake red rose = disaster.
She Just Keeps Getting Better: Helen Mirren. Proof that you can be mature, elegant, and sexy at the same time, Dame Helen Mirren never fails to look stunning. We loved her sassy hair and sleek dress.
My How Far You’ve Come: Claire Danes. Remember My So-Called Life? Claire Danes is light years from Kool-Aid dyed hair and angsty diaries. She looked effortlessly polished in a slip of fuchsia satin - though she could use a couple cookies.
Peachy Queen: Emma Stone. We’re already particular to the juicy shade that Emma Stone was rocking last night, and wow did she wear it well. The Easy A star was California cool from top to bottom.
Glam Goddess: Anne Hathaway. Who knew we’d be so into the sequin plus shoulder pads look? Anne Hathaway blew us away in a shimmering Armani Prive number and mega-watt smile. Plus we love that she’s signed on to appear on Glee!
