Last month was all about keeping things clean and simple. This month, however, I’m switching gears and need a bit of rejuvenation. I want to kick off February with a burst of color that will keep me pumping through the rest of winter (that darn groundhog!) and I think that Color Club in Disco Dress is just what I need. Violet is thought to be associated with imagination and inspiration and I’m hoping this super-charged purple will spark both. The perfect mix of bright and dark, I can’t wait to paint my digits in this electric shade!

After watching all the gorgeous bright and blush-tone gowns flow down the red carpet at the Golden Globes on Sunday, I got inspired for spring colors. Based on how awards season has started and the spring 2012 shows, I’ve picked the four shades I think will be blossoming on everyone’s nails come warmer weather. Canary Yellow: Yellow is going to be B-I-G for spring. Designers like Derek Lam, Rodarte, BCBG (above), and Diane Furstenberg all incorporated this sunny shade in a significant way into their collections. What better way to start a new year than with a fresh, clean slate—both literally and figuratively. For this month’s color pick, I am choosing a slate gray called Megan from Zoya’s new Feel Collection. My polish choice often reflects my state of mind and this month is all about tranquility and keeping things simple. After all, I need all the energy I can muster to stick with my new year’s resolutions! Here’s to starting 2012 off right!

It’s time to ring in the new year! While I don’t know what you have planned for NYE, I do know that this night usually means big things: an awesome outfit, sultry makeup, dancing shoes, and a great mani! Since I’m still not sure what polish I will be rocking tomorrow, I decided to round up some inspiration. From the classic combo of black and gold to matte ombre sparkles to colorful confetti glitter, these are a few of my favorite festive ideas.

For those of you who are like me — crazily over-booked for the holiday season — time is of the essence!
Luckily, I discovered a nail strip that makes it easy to look fabulous at each and every one of my holiday shindigs. Nail Rock, a UK-based company, has a series of super-easy, super-funky nail wraps that are the perfect finishing touch for any holiday outfit.
Nail wraps only differ from nail strips in that they’re actually stickers and they’re not made from polish. But other than that, they follow the same application process: Buff your polish-free digits, make sure those cuticles are pushed back, and stick them on. Voilà! You’ve got a mani ready for an entrance.
While I was skeptical about these nail stickers at first, I tried them last weekend when I had multiple holiday parties but no time to paint my nails, and I can’t tell you how many compliments I got for the Furry Cheetah print I picked! Just to warn you, these strips are not for the timid — each and every style is bold, unique, and will attract attention. Nail Rock is perfect for a girl on-the-go, and even more perfect for one who likes to have fun.

My nail polish obsession means that I’m not a true color loyalist, but I must say that I am so smitten with NARS’ Endless Night lacquer that I am sure I will wear it multiple times this season. This seductive hue is described as “black grape” and and is much more subtle than the other glitzy glittery polishes that are so popular this time of year. Warm, rich, and dark, this almost-black purple is a great alternative to a deep traditional red and I am positive that this plum shade will be a huge trend this winter.
