As much as we love nail art, we’re better at admiring designs than coming up with them ourselves. That’s why we’ve enlisted Anna Norman, the smarty pants behind Glitter, She Wrote, to be a regular contributor. Every Monday, she’ll be sharing her latest lacquer inspiration—you won’t be satisfied with plain ol’ polish again.
There’s no better time than a holiday to go all out on your nails, and the Fourth of July is no exception. The simple color scheme plus the iconic stars, stripes, and sparkles that go along with the day translate so well into nail art. I just couldn’t resist. Here’s what I’ll be wearing on Wednesday:

This week’s guest blogger, Vida Lee, hits close to home for us—literally! She’s a beauty guru based in our hometown: New York City. Aside from being a product addict, she’s also a medical school student (whoa!) who makes time on the side for her pretty blog, P.S. It’s Vida. Over the next few days, the smarty savant will be sharing her greatest tips and tricks for staying prepped and primed for summer.
I hate that feeling when you look down at your feet and realize your pedicure color doesn’t go all that well with the sandals you have on. Since I like combos that coordinate, here are a few suggestions:
A self-proclaimed beauty addict and over-the-top girly girl, Lara Ramos has been dedicated to living a pretty lifestyle since birth. Her blog, The Glossarie, highlights ground-breaking beauty products and little laid-back luxuries. This week, in Lara’s second appearance as a guest blogger, she shares the newest items that have caught her eye and her personal must-haves.
As a beauty blogger, I go through a lot of nail polish. With all of the shades that come across my desk, there are a handful of formulas that have risen to the top for me in terms of performance. Here are five of my favorite brands and their best shades for summer (some old flames, and some new kids on the block).
From pinky to thumb:
Sheswai Lacquer in Honey Fox: I am obsessed with this red for fingers and toes, it always looks great.
Deborah Lippmann Dancing in the Sheets: I know this one is a bit dark, but I love navy in the summer!
Based in Washington D.C., Ayren Jackson-Cannady is so savvy that we wished she lived closer to NYC so that we could swap products with her. This beauty writer knows what’s up (she’s written for Fitness, Glamour, and Gloss Daily) and we’re excited to have her sharing her know-how and multi-culti beauty expertise as a contributing editor.
When it comes to beauty, I’m all for letting your creative juices flow. If you think blue eyeliner and red lipstick look good together—rock it! If you think peach and pink and blue and purple highlights are where it’s at—right on! You want to wear glitter and graphic neon stripes on your nails? Go you!
We gave Glitter, She Wrote blogger Anna Norman one of our new Zoya Blogger Collections and told her to let her nail art imagination go wild. We love what she came up with—stripey happiness!
Zoya Kate, Coraline, and Belle are such fun, on-trend colors for the season. Jelly nail polish like these shades are somewhat sheer, but build to bright, saturated colors in a few coats. Click through to see how I got this look.
Affordable fashion and beauty blog EleventhGorgeous is always a source of inspiration for us (living in NYC, we’re on a serious budget!). But we especially like that the site is run by a dynamic sister duo, Tracy and Stefanie Barton. The stylish siblings created a custom color for our Birchbox Blogger set—check out how they plan to wear the shade all season long below.
Right now, we are loving color and lots of it! Just recently, we started color blocking our nail polish and the combinations are endless. There’s no right or wrong when it comes to pairing shades. That’s why we’re especially excited about the Birchbox Blogger nail polish set that we helped to create. The colors all look great together as well as on their own. Our favorite way to wear this trend using these bright shades is to apply Coraline to three nails, apply Kate to two nails, and then a sheer layer of Belle as a topcoat.
Have you ever tried the color blocking trend on your nails?

We were thrilled when one of our favorite bloggers, Kate of The Small Things, decided to create a mood board earlier this spring and enter our Zoya Custom Polish Sweepstakes. As soon as the voting started, it was clear that her gorgeous grapefruit shade was a fan fave. Now you snag this on-trend shade for yourself—grab the limited edition collection from our Shop! Here’s how Kate wears her new hue.
I am so excited about the Kate nail polish by Zoya! It matches my mood board (below) perfectly and is a great color for spring and summer.
I love to wear my favorite scarf with this nail color because they compliment each other so well.
