Ladies, it’s that time of year again: Movember is upon us! For those of you who are unfamiliar with the event, November marks a month-long initiative to help raise awareness for men’s health, with a special focus on prostate and testicular cancer research. In solidarity with the cause, gents let their whiskers grow all month; but even if you’re of the fairer (and less bearded) sex that doesn’t mean you can’t support this worthy cause as a Mo Sista.
The intrepid guys at Birchbox Man love to try new products, especially ones with intriguing words in them like “hybrid.” This week, they test drove Baxter’s of California’s new Hard Cream Pomade, which combines the look of a cream with the hold of pomade, and were delighted by the results. Turns out it’s a mashup made in heaven.

Are the men in your life participating in Movember? (They should be!) Read Nick Offerman’s helpful tips for growing a Ron Swanson-esque ‘stache.
We’re only a few days into Movember, but judging from the abundance of well-groomed mustaches here at Birchbox HQ, our dapper gents may well decide to leave their clean-shaven days behind for good. Ladies, now’s the time to convince your man to grow a ‘stache and help raise awareness for men’s health issues. Of course, that doesn’t mean he should let things run wild.
Thankfully, the facial hair experts over at Birchbox Man put together this helpful video detailing the essentials every guy needs to keep his ‘stache trimmed and neat. Watch, learn, and help him manage his whiskers. Plus, who knew that mustache combs could look so cute?
I always look forward to celebrating Movember with my friends, family, and co-workers. Beyond the fact that mustaches are just plain fun to look at, I find immeasurable joy in supporting my male friends (a.k.a. mercilessly ridiculing them) as they compete for the grandest or creepiest style. But what makes me happiest about Movember is that all this silliness has a very important purpose: to spread knowledge and encourage open dialogue about men’s health, specifically prostate and testicular cancer.
This is an issue that has immense personal importance to me, since I lost the love of my life, my dad, to prostate cancer. But it also has universal significance. We all have men in our lives who we care about, and the sad fact is that men are much less likely to visit a doctor or be pro-active about their personal health than women are. Consequently, awareness and funding for men’s health issues lags far behind other causes. For instance, did you know that the life expectancy of the average man is five years shorter than his female counterpart?
Ladies, it’s that time again: Movember is almost upon us! For those of you who are unfamiliar with the event, November marks a month-long initiative to help raise awareness for men’s health, with a special focus on prostate and testicular cancer research. Gents can participate by letting their whiskers grow all month in an effort to create a fancy (or totally terrifying) moustache.
The handsome fellows of Birchbox Man have started a team to support this awesome endeavor, and would love for you to be a part of it! Even if you can’t create a stellar ‘stache, that doesn’t mean you can’t participate—watch the video above to find out how you and the men in your life can help spread the word about this great cause.
Once a week, Birchbox’s resident yoga and men’s product expert, Eric, will gives us girls some insight into his world in You’ve Got Male. Whether he’s giving his expertise on skincare (boys need advice, too!) or highlighting his new favorite grooming trend, this guy has got taste—so we’re lucky he’s on staff and willing to share.
If you haven’t heard, it’s Movember and some Birchbox staffers are rallying in support. Movember is a global initiative that started in 2003 in Melbourne. The idea is that men all over the world grow a moustache for the month of November and ask friend and family to donate in support of men’s health, specifically cancers that affect men. Some of the organizations that benefit domestically from Movember are the Prostate Cancer Foundation and LIVESTRONG. At the end of the month, participants are encouraged to celebrate by either throwing their own Movember party or attending one of the infamous Gala Partes held around the world by the organization itself.
We are totally supportive of the cause behind ‘Movember' (raising awareness for prostate cancer), but we can't say that we are fans of the actual execution. In our opinion, a mustache is not a good look for any man (with the exception of Tom Sellack; he just looks silly without one.)
We will say, though, that mustaches are pretty great everywhere else other than men’s faces, including on jewelry, clothing, and even nails! We came across this mustache nail video tutorial by CutePolish and couldn’t resist sharing. Click through to check it out.
