This week we had a special visitor at Birchbox HQ: our Birchbox France editorial director, Mathilde! We directed the chic Parisian to our favorite spots (including the Ace Hotel and ABC Kitchen) and, in return, asked her about her latest obsessions (beauty and otherwise). This is what’s topping her must list.
1. Alpha-H Daily Essential Moisturiser SPF 50+: I love this product because it’s a serious moisturizer. It doesn’t feel too heavy or leave a white residue, so I use it everyday. It smells good, too—really light and clean.
I hate to use the f-word, but fall (yes, that f-word—what were you thinking?), is right around the corner. I’m searching for autumnal beauty inspiration and I found it in this photo of the lovely Lily Collins at the Canadian premiere of her new flick, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. In case you adore this look as much as I do, here’s how to recreate it:
1. Collins’ bold expressive brows are such a fan fave, they even have their own Twitter account! You’ll want to shade in your brows to get a similar look. We like this versatile pencil from IT Cosmetics, which works on variety of hair colors and the waterproof formula won’t smear or smudge.
How Many Lipsticks Does One Girl Need?
Some girls rely on one go-to lip color, but I’m a firm believer that every occasion requires its own special shade. While a sexy red is fun for going out, I’ll opt for a neutral when I’m headed to a job interview. A new favorite is ModelCo’s Party Proof Lipsticks, which come in a variety of hues and feel great on my lips. The formulas are packed with hydrators and they’re very long-lasting so you don’t have to worry about frequent reapplication.
Watch our video and see what colors we recommend for a variety of different situations. Then let us know in the comments below how many lipsticks do you think you need?
With so many places to be, you’ll need to spruce up throughout the day. See what our Beauty Partnerships team uses to freshen up fast!

No matter what you eat, drink, or toast to this summer, these ModelCo lipsticks will last.
My least favorite thing about lipstick? People never realize I’m wearing any since it fades on my lips faster than a bad spray tan. And while dolling myself up for a summer night out is all part of the fun, the rigors of socializing are my lip color’s enemy. It goes like this: I swipe it on, and proceed to smear it all over a cocktail napkin. I swipe it on again, sip a dark and stormy, and watch my shade disappear faster than my drink. Even the boldest, most showgirl-worthy hues start to fade to a pale pink if I’m not reapplying every half hour.
Which is why I’m so pumped for ModelCo’s line of Party Proof Lipsticks, which some subscribers will be receiving in their July Birchboxes!
We’ve been planning our dream weddings since we were five years old. So it’s no surprise that we can’t get enough of Lover.ly, a wedding inspiration site that lets you search through pics of swoon-worthy gowns, bouquets, and everything else you need for the big day. Once a week, the ladies behind Lover.ly will be sharing their best tips for getting through the craziness of the season—whether you’re standing at the altar or enjoying a view of it from the audience.
When it comes to bridal head pieces, we’re thinking beyond the veil. Smaller hair accessories, from birdcage veils to flapper-style headbands, are the looks we love for 2013. Here are our favorite picks from Lover.ly:
