Today, I’m hopping on a plane and heading to Ecuador’s hermoso capital city Quito for a dear friend’s wedding. In addition to comfy walking shoes (I plan to do a lot of solo exploring) and my trusty passport, here are some of the travel must-haves I’ll be stashing in my carry-on:
1. Oscar de la Renta Something Blue
According to our friends at The Knot, it’s a faux pas to attend a wedding empty handed. With that in mind, I’m packing this timeless scent to hand over to the bride-to-be on the big day. Inspired by the iconic designer’s silk and lace wedding gowns, the refined blend has sparkling notes of mandarin, linden blossom, and bourbon vanilla.
We’re always talking about the staffers in the Birchbox office, but the ones who you interact with everyday are the ladies of our hard-working Ops team. These fabulous femmes handle all of your customer service woes. We wanted to give you a chance to get to know them even better—so here’s a peek at who’s on the other side of the phone.
Audrey and her makeup must-have.
There are some products that we just can’t live without—the rockstars of our makeup bags that we’re so dedicated to that they become our signature products. For Audrey, the standout item in her kit is Miracle Skin Transformer’s Treat & Conceal Eye & Face. Everyone on the Ops team knows that if they need a quick cover up, Audrey always has this on hand. Find out why Audrey can’t live without it (and why you have to try it too!).
Leave it to a social media community manager to create a custom hashtag for her vacation! Our Rachel S. is en route to Mexico to attend her friends’ wedding in Puerta Vallarta. Before she left we took a peak into her toiletries and makeup bags. Here are a few of her favorite products that she brought along:
1. Supergoop: Well, duh. Sun protection is my numero uno concern!
2. Miracle Skin Transformer Treat & Conceal: I’m addicted to this concealer. It’s perfect for hiding under-eye circles (which I hope to get rid of on this trip with a the serious dose of relaxation) and any unexpected blemishes.
Earlier this year, my skin began staging a terrifying revolt. Thanks to my 20-something hormones, my face began breaking out even worse than it had in high school. Thankfully, after a few months of retinol and a couple much-needed facials, my skin is finally getting back on track—and the silver lining was that I came away from travels in blemishland having learned two major beauty lessons:
Dark spot treatments with vitamin C are crucial when trying to cope with acne-related pigmentation and scarring.
- If you’re relying on full-coverage foundation (which I was), you’ll want to use a primer to get a smooth finish that lasts all day.
Now here comes the super exciting part of this post: we’re sampling a product in our November Birchboxes that combines these two crucial elements. Miracle Skin Transformer’s Vanish is the exact product that I’ve been wishing for this entire year—and you’ll want to try it even if you have flawless skin.
Thanks to Bridgette, the newest addition to our powerhouse Beauty Partnerships Team, our locks are looking a lot more luscious. The Duke University alum ran an underground hair salon from her dorm room, and lucky for us, she’s not shy about sharing her styling secrets. In addition to her salon days, Bridgette also developed a love of all things tech while working for renowned ad agency Ogilvy & Mather. Her new role at Birchbox, as Marketing & Merchandising Manager, brings together her two passions for tech innovation and beauty savvy. We couldn’t be happier to have her!

Fun fact: When I was in middle school, I memorized the choreography to over 400 dance performances from a Venezuelan TV show called “El Club de Los Tigritos.”
There comes a time when suddenly your summer weekends are filled with more father-daughter dances than keggers, and you can recite your bridesmaid dress measurements as easily as your phone number. You’re just at that age. Birchbox is right there with you—and we’re not even two yet! Our PR Manager, Kelly, will be getting married this weekend in New Rochelle, NY and we can’t imagine a more gorgeous or organized bride. Here’s what she’ll be bringing with her to ensure that her big day goes smoothly.
"I’m most excited about my fiance Kenny seeing me for the first time. That and the breaking of the glass, since it marks the end of the ceremony and the start of the celebration!"
Klorane Gentle Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk: My hair stylist has instructed me to have second-day hair for the wedding day. I plan to use Klorane dry shampoo to ensure my hair still looks fresh.
As an avid rock climber, I tend to come away from my weekly top-roping sessions with at least a few serious scrapes and bruises. These “lovemarks,” as we’ll call them, are awesome when I want to feel like a hardcore, super-strong, independent woman. They’re way less awesome when I’m attempting to look glowingly fabulous for a Saturday night out, or when I’m throwing on a pretty sundress for Sunday brunch. Old scars and black and blue spots aren’t exactly glamorous. But thankfully, I’ve discovered a go-to product that has become my skin savior for the summer months: Miracle Skin Transformer’s Body Enhancer.

Blame it on the fact that I live in the city that never sleeps, but it seems like catching eight hours of rest will always remain an elusive goal for me. I’m constantly battling a chronic case of under eye circles, and I know I’m not alone. Women cite lack of sleep as the number one cause behind looking fatigued, but to some extent dark circles are also in our genes. As you age, the delicate skin beneath your eyes thins out, exposing the trapped blood vessels underneath. Luckily, you don’t have to show your dark circles to the world. Just follow these three easy steps to looking bright-eyed and well-rested 24/7!
