If you follow us on Instagram or Pinterest, you’ve probably seen that pretty manicures aren’t hard to come by at Birchbox HQ. But while we’d love to spend hours in the salon each week getting intricate nail designs on each of our ten fingers, sometimes we just want our nails to look pretty and polished without spending the time on a full manicure.
Enter Incoco nail polish appliqués: polish strips that have zero drying time, last up to 14 days, and are super easy—and quick—to apply. One of our co-founders has even confessed to applying them in the back of a New York City taxi! A few weeks ago, we Instagrammed several Birchbox staffers wearing a different Incoco mani each day around the office, then we asked our Instagram followers to share their Incoco manicures with us. Click through the slideshow above to see the unique way our subscribers wear their on-the-go nail strips.

Operations Associate, Loren, has a thing for nails—and we can’t blame her. We love reading about new finishes and fun techniques, so we thought we’d give her a weekly slot on our blog to wax poetic about all things manicure (and pedicure!) related. Check back regularly for Nailing It, Birchbox’s dedicated polish series.

This week, the Operations Team has been obsessed with Tennoverten Nail Polish. The lacquer line, created by the chic New York salon of the same name, includes some of our favorite colors to play with for fall, like eye-catching berry and dark-hued taupe. Take a peek after the jump to see how the Ops ladies are rocking these pretty polishes:

This afternoon’s Lauren Moffatt presentation had stunning diagonal nails by OPI. To get the look yourself, paint a base color all over your nails and let it completely set. Next, take a piece of scotch tape and place it diagonally across your nail, leaving the tip uncovered. Paint the area below the scotch tape with your accent color and remove the tape. Voila!

Need more Fashion Week? Here’s the rest of our coverage from the Spring 2013 shows.

Earlier this week, I commented to fellow operations associate Alexandra that her neutral manicure looked great. She told me that she just had nail wraps applied at a salon. For those of you who are looking to strengthen your nails without the damaging side effects of acrylics, nail wraps might be a future favorite for you. Nail wraps look much more natural than acrylic nails and can make your manicure last for weeks.
A few days after I had paid Alexandra the compliment on her durable manicure, I noticed that her nails looked different and that she was sporting nail art. I asked her why she had gotten rid of her wraps, but it turns out that she hadn’t. She had just painted over them.

Gel manicures, like CND’s shellac, have been growing in popularity as a long-lasting, durable nail option since the mani lasts for up to two weeks chip-free and is dry the minute you walk out of the salon. (Many a doorknob and purse zipper has been cursed when I’ve smushed my newly-painted non-gel nails.) But recent research has shown that the UV lamps used to set gel lacquers on fingertips may be a cause for serious concern.
