Our subscribers received adorable postcards in their June boxes illustrating the four cities that Birchbox calls home: New York, Paris, London, and Barcelona. But since we could only fit so much information on each card, we decided to provide even more insider intel on our blog—straight from Birchbox staffers around the world. Get your passport ready and check back each week for a new installment of Birchbox City Guides.
For the best burger in town, head to MEATliquor behind Oxford Street or sister restaurant MEATmarket in Covent Garden and order the Dead Hippie—pair it with a delish cocktail. Borough Market on the South Bank has all the food stalls you can imagine, from cheese and meats to cider and sweet treats. Insider’s tip: Don’t leave without a visit to Monmouth for coffee—the queue is worth the wait.
We have waited four years for this moment: the Summer Olympics kicks off tonight! The next 16 days will be filled with excitement, incredible accomplishments, and plenty of emotion as the most talented athletes from across the globe compete for gold. Now that the anticipation is finally over, we wanted to get a temperature read on exactly what a few of our office’s biggest sports fans are most excited to watch. Here’s what the die-hards had to say.

Hat’s off to Emma Stone's stylist, whoever you are. The starlet hasn't stepped out looking anything less than extraordinary in any of her recent appearances. Just yesterday, at the London premiere of her new movie, The Amazing Spider-man, she stunned in a to-die-for deep-V Ellie Saab jumpsuit. It’s a sassy piece of clothing, and exaggerated hair and makeup would have distracted from its total brilliance. But Stone understands balance and went with a smoky eye, understated pink lip, and super-sleek hair.
Afternoon tea at Fortnum & Mason
Linda Pilkington of Ormonde Jayne
This week we tapped Karen Adams, the executive operations manager of the event-based fragrance group Sniffapalooza, to guest blog about some of the best scents she’s discovered on her recent travels. Today’s jaunt: London.
The bustling city streets, chic fashion, the Underground, the West End Theatre District…there are so many parallels between London and New York, yet so many differences to explore. We loved the streets of well-kept row houses adorned with flower boxes. And it’s so easy to acclimate to the delightful daily custom of afternoon tea. (Especially when the tea is served at Fortnum & Mason and the host is Victoria Christian of Clive Christian Perfumes.) We spent our London days studying the history of fragrance with Roja Dove at the Haute Parfumerie in Harrods, and delighting in private tours of Liberty and Selfridges. One of London’s treasures, tucked away at 12 The Royal Arcade 28 Old Bond Street, is the Ormonde Jayne Boutique. Perfumer Linda Pilkington presented her luxurious niche line and did perfume portraits to help us choose a favorite scent. We fancied the Tolu Collection for its velvety resins of golden frankincense, tolu, and myrrh.
