I’m pretty diligent about my makeup application in the mornings. But no matter how much time I spend first thing, by mid-day I look like a sad circus clown: I’ll have mascara rings underneath my eyes, my lipstick will be smeared, my cheeks will be pale, and the list goes on. So, I have learned to be prepared for the mid-day makeup battle by carrying a couple essentials with me at all times. Here’s what’s I regularly tote around with me:

Even though we’re still getting over the fact that summer has officially ended, it’s not so bad because we absolutely love fall. For New Yorkers, autumn is one of the most beautiful times of the year, plus it means it’s time to start bringing out our cooler weather essentials—and you know we love fall fashion!
To help you prep for the new season, we’re hosting a contest with kate spade new york on our Facebook page.
Whew. We’re still catching our breath after fashion week wrapped up here in New York last Thursday. After seeing as many shows as we did, they all start to blur together, but one thing really stands out in our opinion: the nail art. Graphic, bold, and utterly innovative, the designs we saw backstage for spring prove that this trend isn’t going anywhere. Here’s a look at ten standout manis that we can’t wait to replicate.

Our creative team is pretty, well, creative and they come across beautiful imagery all the time. Why not share the inspiration? Keep an eye out each Friday for their Mood Board, a collection of images they’re loving.

We’re obviously on a Kate Spade kick this week but we still can’t get enough. Bright, feminine, and kitschy-yet-chic were the major themes at last week’s presentation. From girly gingham on nails and skirts to unapologetic brights on eyes and accessories, every detail of the collection made it feel special and fun—exactly the way a Kate Spade girl should feel.

Last week, we told you about Kate Spade’s Spring 2013 presentation, with its retro-inspired shapes and ultra-feminine Jouer makeup. While we’re sure everyone will be wearing powder blue (seriously!) eye shadow come spring, we don’t want to wait to try out a slightly toned-down version of the designer’s runway look. We love the way the model above is pairing clean, youthful skin with strong brows and petal pink cheeks. To get the look, start with Jouer’s new Matte Moisture Tint, which dries to a velvety (not powdery) finish and follow with a generous dusting of Jouer’s Mineral Powder Blush in Peony. The bubblegum hue looks extremely bright but we promise, it’s amazingly flattering and gives you a delicate rosy flush. For brows, we like to fill in any sparse areas with brow powder or pencil. And while we don’t know what they did at the show, we think this look demands a spritz of a flirty scent. What could be more appropriate than kate spade new york’s Twirl? Don’t be surprised if we start introducing ourselves as Holly Golightly.
If you’re in an extra-fancy mood, swipe on a coat of Jouer’s Moisturizing Lip Gloss in Peony, a pretty pink.
Kate Spade is one presentation that’s always so exciting to attend because it’s always upbeat. For next spring, the brand is going into brights overdrive with poptastic prints and neon accents—and the nails and makeup followed suit. “It’s ’80s-inspired rock-n-roll colors,” explained Jouer artist Neil Scibelli of the look. Certainly, the electric blue shadow that was winged out to the end of the brows and the thick white liner were a playful statement. (Side note: we were thrilled to see Scibelli using Jouer’s latest product, Matte Moisture Tint, on models’ skin—and to be introduced to a forthcoming spring gloss shade, Olivia.)
