While you’re waiting to get your hands on the Karl Lagerfeld for Shu Uemura collection, feel free to take any of these popular Shu Uemura hair products for a spin!

Karl Lagerfeld has been using Shu Uemura makeup for over 20 years—just not in the way you might think. Aside from his main gig at Chanel, the designer is also known for his illustrations, which often grace the fashion house’s invitations and press kits. Those illustrations are always created with Shu Uemura makeup. He told WWD he uses the brand’s products “because other manufacturers do not offer such beautiful colors.”
I adore that Karl Lagerfeld goes so over the top every time he shows a new collection. With this latest showing, I’m not sure how he’ll outdo himself the next time around. For Chanel’s Resort 2013 presentation yesterday, Largerfeld chose Versailles as his backdrop. The location was perfectly fitting for the Marie Antoinette-inspired ensembles, which showcased embellishments, ruffles galore, and even voluminous pantaloons.
Notable Quotables is a weekly series featuring a great quote. Whether it’s the founder of a beloved beauty brand, an eccentric makeup artist making headlines, or even a super-stylish celebrity, our favorite tastemakers always have something worth sharing. Today’s quote is by the awe-inspiring Karl Lagerfeld, who just launched his own website, appropriately titled Karl.com. While we’ve always thought of Karl as pretty meticulous, this quote shows off his more creative side. In fact, it’s downright whimsical.
"If you put things away in a too tidy way, then you will only find what you are looking for. You will never be surprised, nor delighted by fortuitous discoveries."
Speaking of Karl, we loved the bold, bejeweled brows at the fall 2012 Chanel show.
TheGloss is one daily must-reads (right up there with the NY Times). We love the site’s witty approach to style and its smart and irreverent voice. We like the writing so much, in fact, that we’ll be featuring one of their posts each week here on the Birchbox blog.
In addition to putting on fashion shows under the sea, creating wine bottles, and designing for Chanel and Fendi, Karl Lagerfeld is also an accomplished photographer. And what better way to show off his skills than by photographing one of fashion’s favorite muses of the moment, Florence Welch?
For the cover of Florence and the Machine‘s new limited edition vinyl single, “Shake It Out,” the Kaiser photographed Welch in head-to-toe Chanel. In addition to the cover shot, a few other lovely photos from the shoot have been released:
