We hope you’re having a fantastic holiday with your loved ones!
You may notice that we’re posting a little less than we normally do this week. But don’t worry, we’ll be back in full swing after New Year’s with even more blog awesome-sauce.
It can be a bit of a black hole trying to sort through all the anti-aging beauty products on the market. That’s why we look to the all-knowing Jonell Copeland, the editor of the Ageist Beauty, a blog that focuses on dishing out beauty advice to ladies aged 35-50. This week, she’s giving us all the deets on her holiday season musts!
A red lip is an easy way to add a bit of holiday flair, sophistication and fun to your look. It can be universally flattering, if you choose the right lipstick.
Here are four easy-to-follow tips on how to make a crimson pout work for you:
Eek, it’s the final hour for gift-finding! Just in case you still haven’t found presents for your loved ones, here’s some last-minute inspiration courtesy of our staffers. Today, our Director of Editorial Operations, Bene is sharing her top 5 picks for her dad. (December 19th—today!—is the last day to order from our Shop to receive your orders by December 24. Go now!)
1. PRORASO Shaving Cream
As soon as I saw this concentrated, creamy soap highlighted in a Birchbox Man video, I knew my dad would dig it. It’s emblematic of Italian style (just like Pops!) and will look great in the ceramic shaving cup he inherited from my grandfather, who owned a barbershop.
‘Tis the season of decadent desserts and food! There’s no better way to celebrate the holidays with your families than with delicious chocolate, which is why we asked you in early December to tell us your favorite cocoa-based recipes. We have to admit, it was very difficult to choose amongst your submissions—chocolate is our all-time favorite! In the end, though, we picked one recipe that we can’t wait to whip up and enjoy next to a fire:
Great makeup selections, haircare essentials, awesome polishes, and so much more that can be gifted all year long.
Our Beauty Pulse Survey revealed an interesting stat: women love receiving beauty-oriented surprises. It may be time to take down the tinsel and turn off the Christmas lights, but as gifters and beauty fanatics we love to surprise our Mamas throughout the year. We’ve all come a long way from the days of Play-Doh-shaped lipsticks and compacts as presents, but that doesn’t mean finding the right beauty loot is easy.
Rather than spending countless hours in the beauty aisle or surrendering to the siren call of a gift card, give mom something sweetly scented, brightly colored, or totally luxurious. These 10 sensational options will (secretly) have mom referring to you as her favorite child:
Overbooked flights. Train delays. Stinky seatmates. No one said holiday travel was easy, but it would be nice if it didn’t crush your body as well as your spirit. We asked Melisse Gelula, wellness expert and co-founder of Well+Good NYC, for advice on how to stay happy and healthy during the busiest travel season. Turns out it’s easier than you think.
Eat at home beforehand
“You’re surrounded by high-carb, prepackaged foods at airports and train stations,” says Gelula. “So I eat a really healthy meal at home beforehand, like a kale salad with avocado and almonds.” A light, well-balanced meal will curb the impulse to reach for that in-flight Chex Mix freebie. To satisfy a mid-journey snack attack, reach for smart-but-tasty option like Lärabar’s ϋber bar.
Eek, it’s the final hour for gift-finding! Just in case you still haven’t found presents for your loved ones, here’s some last-minute inspiration courtesy of our staffers. Today, our Technical Product Manager Jenn is sharing her top 5 picks for her bestie, Jimelle. (December 19th is the last day to order from our Shop to receive your orders by December 24. Go now!)
My friend Jimelle is an über-traveler. I’ve known her since high school and we’ve done a lot of traveling together. For example, this past summer we went on a cross-country road trip visiting as many states as possible along the way. But Jimelle also travels a lot for work—from Florida to India, so she lives out of a suitcase for a good part of the year. That’s why my picks for her this year are all carry-on friendly:
We fell hard for Natalie Alcala last fall, when the LA-based writer and blogger spent a week guest blogging for us. In fact, we loved her posts so much that we asked her to be a contributing editor. In addition to blogging for us once a week, she’ll also be writing for the Birchbox Magazine and keeping us up to speed on all things fashion, beauty, and fun.
TGIF! Now that you’ve nailed nabbing some super unique gifts for your loved ones, it’s time to get crafty. Whether you’re throwing a holiday party this season or simply want to spruce up your digs, here are some great DIY projects to test drive this weekend.
