Essie Inspires Us To Pick A Polish Based On Our Handbag

Essie’s fall collection, which will be available later this month, draws inspriation  from ’40s and ’50s post-war handbags. A cool and interesting concept, the line got me to thinking about whether I could use purses belonging to Birchbox staffers to pick out a lacquer for each person. So I decided to give it a shot—let me know in comments if you think I got it right.

We’re keeping it in the family with Chanel’s Black Satin polish as the perfect pair to Rachel’s classic quilted bag.

Elf’s Burgundy Nail Polish and Alicia’s chained purse both have gold accentsa match made in heaven.

Nars’ Bad Influence camel-colored polish is the perfect compliment to Mollie’s vintage satchel.

Blue is one hot color for fall—so both Kara’s oversize bag and Dior Vernis in Tuxedo are seriously on trend.

Deborah Lippmann’s Dark Side of the Moon and Eric’s deep eggplant weekender are well coupled.

These two make a bold statement that work: Meredith’s shiny snake skin purse and Chanel’s Gold Fiction polish.

Guest Blogger: Hobo International Angela

A self-proclaimed beauty addict and over-the-top girly girl, Lara Ramos has been dedicated to living a pretty lifestyle since birth. Her blog, The Glossarie, highlights ground-breaking beauty products and little laid-back luxuries. While it started as a straightforward beauty blog two years ago, The Glossarie has become a full-on outlet for chicness of all kinds. This week, Lara shares five pretty products and ideas that add a little fun to her world.

While my first love is beauty, my adoration for handbags is not far behind. To showcase my obsessive bag-lady status, I dedicate a weekly post to purses in The Glossarie on Thursdays.

Now if you’re like me, you tote more than your fair share of products in your handbag: a lip gloss here, a bronzer there…now where oh where is my blush brush? Not to mention a mirror, a hair elastic, my phone, keys, wallet, and sunnies. Seriously, it’s a jungle in there! I also find that switching purses from day to evening, weekday to weekend means that I’m constantly forgetting something somewhere.

Until now.

Birchboxers, meet Angela. Angela, meet the Birchboxers. Angela is a super-soft convertible bag from Hobo International with a hide-away strap that allows her to go from shoulder bag to clutch in the blink of an eye. Gone are the days of leaving behind a treasured lip balm in your Saturday/Sunday handbag because your practical weekday carryall just became your go-to evening favorite. The extra tumbled leather gives Angela a broken-in look and the vintage-inspired pleat detailing makes this bag feel fresh for fall. Best of all? The oversize frame means you can stash your life inside her roomy, poppy-printed interior.

Now what about those beauty products?

Well, Angela hides three generous slip pockets, a zip pocket, and a key hook. A strong magnetic closure keeps all your treasures safely inside until you’re ready to touch things up. You can find Angela at starting next month!
