Left: Sevigny in December 2011; Right: Chloë on Monday at the Jeffrey Fashion Cares benefit
Back in December, Chloë Sevigny was sporting a brand new look—a short bob and extra-blunt bangs, plus some seriously copper color. We weren’t totally sold on the style, we love her much more as a blonde (though we do applaud experimentation).
Which is why we were so excited when, on Monday night, she debuted a more choppy blonde version of her bob at the Jeffrey Fashion Cares fundraiser to benefit AIDS and LBGT charities.

We play with our hair a lot at Birchbox HQ. We do a lot of serious work, yes, but almost every day includes a mini break to test a cool topsy tail updo or try a pretty topknot. Sadly, my hair doesn’t have the kind of texture you need to get these styles. As Katia puts it, my hair is “too healthy.” I don’t know about that, but I do have soft, slippery strands that needs a little extra help. Here, my favorite texture-adding products:

Just in time for the March 25th premiere of Mad Men’s long-awaited fifth season, January Jones showed up at PaleyFest in L.A. sporting a rose-hued streak in her blonde locks.
The dynamic duo behind Beauty Bender, Kathryn Romeyn and Alexis Johnson, have an impeccable eye for deciphering up-and-coming cosmetics trends and finding experts to give the lowdown on how to wear them. (It must be the decade’s worth of magazine curating experience they have between them.) We can’t get enough of their gorgeous site, and happily, for a whole week they’re sharing all of their beauty insight on our blog!

At various times over the years, we’ve flirted with light face-framing fringe, something that changes things up a little, but is easy enough to grow out. But lately, a new heavy-handed version of bangs seems to have taken hold, at least in Hollywood. At the Oscars, bold, blunt-cut and super-thick styles were one of the hottest hair looks on the likes of Rose Byrne, Rooney Mara, Ellie Kemper and Anna Faris. The opulent shine and straight, thick cut were undeniably chic and powerful. “It’s definitely a style that has a certain sex appeal [and is] always youthful,” says star stylist Serge Normant, the namesake of three salons and a luxe haircare line.

Teen queen starlet Vanessa Hudgens is sporting a new ‘do for her upcoming film, Spring Breakers. The one time High School Musical actress, who will be appearing alongside fellow Disney alum Selena Gomez, got extensions and dyed her normally brunette strands a harsh flaxen hue.

For weeks, New York City taxicabs have showcased my latest obsession over and over again via the passengers’ TV monitor: Guess’ spring ad campaign starring Amber Heard.
The actress is up-and-coming and you may know her from The Rum Diaries with Johnny Depp. In the Guess spot, she’s sporting the most amazing platinum blonde strands, which are no doubt Monroe-inspired given that the whole world is having a renewed love affair with the icon these days. We have a deep, abiding love for all things fashion, which is why we often turn to stylish online boutique ModCloth to snag everything from chunky, bold bracelets to fancy frocks. This week, we asked the ModCloth fashion mavens to impart some of their style wisdom to us—and therefore you.
With warm weather (hopefully) just around the corner, it’s time to break out those spring dresses and let your hair down. Headbands are the ideal accessory for springtime looks, offering an easy way to dress up undone styles whether your hair is long or short. Here, I’ve styled three easy-to-achieve looks that can be finished in minutes!

Earlier this week, operations manager Emily decided to spruce up her hair by going extra dark and bold. “I was starting to get bored with my overall look,” Emily said. “Usually when it’s feeling a little drab I go to drastic measures and chop it all off, but this time I decided that a change in the color would tide me over for a bit.”
She looks absolutely gorgeous! We love the lustrous dark brown and the loose curls she’s been rocking around the office for the last few days. “The only other time I’ve colored my hair was when I was 16 and dyed it black out of a box,” she said. “My hair was so damaged that as it started to wash out, the ends of my hair stayed jet black and everything else went back to brown. I looked like I had leopard spots!”
Well, Em, there’s no sign of any leopard spots this time around. You look fantastic.
What do you think of Emily’s bold new look?

Whenever we change our color, we make sure to use products formulated just for dyed locks. We love this shampoo and conditioner from Oribe.
