The Best in Golden Globes Style, Beyonce’s Life Is But A Dream Trailer, and More
While Tina Fey and Amy Poehler had us in stitches, we were equally transfixed by the haute couture fashions displayed on the red carpet at last night’s Golden Globes. Here are the hits (and misses). [The Cut]
Never ones to shy away from the spotlight, the Kardashian sisters’ yet-to-be-launched beauty line has been hit with a whopping $10 million lawsuit. [Huffington Post]
After landing the cover of GQ and releasing a new song with Destiny’s Child, Beyonce gives us a hint of what to expect from her upcoming HBO Special. [Huffington Post]

Like many women, we’re guilty of writing off makeup primer as totally superfluous. But this demystifying guide has us rethinking that it’s an essential. [Into The Gloss]
At Birchbox HQ, we spend a lot of time discussing all the celebs we *know* would be our BFFs if they could only meet us. I mean, come on—we are so fun! While the list of our make-believe star friends is long (we’ve got everyone from Michelle Obama to Rachel Roy on there) the two always at the top are Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. We can’t get enough of these wickedly smart, funny, beautiful women. Naturally, we are pretty psyched about watching the duo lead the Golden Globes tonight. We’ll be chattering about the looks we love (and don’t love so much) on Twitter so make sure you’re following @birchbox!
Plus, this award season we’re trying something new! At 6:30pm EST, when the red carpet coverage begins, we’ll launch a Facebook poll where you can nominate and vote for your favorite looks of the night. Then Monday morning we’ll share a tutorial here on the blog to help you get the look using products you can find in the Birchbox Shop.
See you tonight!
Make sure you are following us on Facebook and Twitter so you don’t miss out on any of Amy, Tina, and red carpet fun.
Happy Friday! The forecast for this weekend says snow, which is a great excuse to cuddle up with your iPad or Kindle and a big mug of hot chocolate. Here are some of this week’s top stories to keep you company.
The editorial team at Birchbox are all huge fans of PBS’ Downton Abbey, the gossipy period drama set in Edwardian England. Compared to all the elaborate clothing (and hats!), the makeup is strikingly minimal. As in no-mascara-allowed-on-set minimal. [BellaSugar]
We loved Zooey Deschanel’s tuxedo nails at the Golden Globes and will definitely be trying this out for our next fancy party. Watch the tutorial for tips! [Bella Sugar]
We all know how effective Botox is at smoothing skin but what about Botox for your hair? A new product promises to smooth the surface of your hair in the same way! [Refinery29]
According to the New York Times, the big trend for 2012 is imperfect makeup and hair. Color us thrilled. That means more snooze time in the AM! [NY Times]
Nail strips aren’t going anywhere, judging by the number of new brands popping up. Fashionista has the latest from UK-based Nail Rock, which takes a cheeky approach to their designs. We’ll skip the vagina (yes, you read that right) pattern but we’re in love with the tribal design. [Fashionista]
As I was scrolling through coverage of the fun-filled Golden Globes after parties, I gasped when I came across the above picture. ‘That can’t be Cameron Diaz,’ I thought, before clicking through to the larger image. Sure enough, it was.

There were a lot of surprising red carpet moments at last night’s 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards (more on that later), but certainly one of the biggest shocks of the evening was Sandra Bullock’s new hair. We’re on the fence about it: We can’t decide if it’s magnificent or too Morticia Addams-y. Tell us what you think by voting in our poll below!
