A Father’s Day Gift Fit for The Man

Father’s Day is coming soon—June 16!—and we know it can be tough to find the right gift. While you can always find a terrific present in the Birchbox Shop, we’re big fans of sending him a Birchbox Man Subscription, so the gifts keep coming long past Dad’s special day. Curious to know just how much Pops would enjoy his box? Take a peek at these Birchbox Dads unboxing below:

How to Pick a Wedding Gift: Lover.ly

We’ve been planning our dream weddings since we were five years old. So it’s no surprise that we can’t get enough of Lover.ly, a wedding inspiration site that lets you search through pics of swoon-worthy gowns, bouquets, and everything else you need for the big day. Once a week, the ladies behind Lover.ly will be sharing their best tips for getting through the craziness of the season—whether you’re standing at the altar or enjoying a view of it from the audience.

Finding a wedding gift is one of those experiences that can either be incredibly fun for people—or make them super uncomfortable. Now that we’re in the thick of wedding season, chances are you’re going to be thinking about giving one sometime soon. Here are some helpful tips for handling the (occasionally touchy) wedding gift situation as a guest.

Gifts are never required. It makes us so sad when we hear about people skipping weddings because they can’t afford a gift; surely your friend would rather you show up empty-handed than not at all! So if money is tight or you just aren’t comfortable giving the couple a gift, that’s totally okay. But we always recommend giving a card even if you can’t do a gift. A heartfelt letter from a friend can be very meaningful.

1. PRORASO Shaving Cream
As soon as I saw this concentrated, creamy soap highlighted in a Birchbox Man video, I knew my dad would dig it. It’s emblematic of Italian style (just like Pops!) and will look great in the ceramic shaving cup he inherited from my grandfather, who owned a barbershop.

Last-Minute Gift Guide: What Birchbox Staffer Jenn is Getting Her BFF

Eek, it’s the final hour for gift-finding! Just in case you still haven’t found presents for your loved ones, here’s some last-minute inspiration courtesy of our staffers. Today, our Technical Product Manager Jenn is sharing her top 5 picks for her bestie, Jimelle. (December 19th is the last day to order from our Shop to receive your orders by December 24. Go now!)

My friend Jimelle is an über-traveler. I’ve known her since high school and we’ve done a lot of traveling together. For example, this past summer we went on a cross-country road trip visiting as many states as possible along the way. But Jimelle also travels a lot for work—from Florida to India, so she lives out of a suitcase for a good part of the year. That’s why my picks for her this year are all carry-on friendly:

The Product Worth Stealing From a Birchbox Man: Molton Brown Re-Charge Black Pepper Wash

                                  image

We all suspect (or are certain) that our guy friends, little brothers, and significant others dip into our anti-aging creams and use every opportunity to test out our luxe shampoos. But we rarely take beauty cues or products from the boys—with a few key exceptions, namely Molton Brown’s Re-charge Black Pepper Bodywash.

Originally designed for men, this shower essential quickly gained a cult following among savvy ladies thanks to its energizing blend of spices and unique formula. Our very own Mollie Chen swears by the Black Pepper Bodywash—it’s been her favorite for years.

Molton Brown Has Landed in the Birchbox Shop and Our Editors Are Flipping Out

Many moons ago, when I was writing about beauty and spas for Conde Nast Traveler, I worked on a story about stylish dopp kits. It was then that my obsession—and no, I am not exaggerating when I use that term—with Molton Brown began. I fell in love with the British brand’s candy-colored bottles, intoxicating scents, and modern-feeling products. From the lush hand soaps and creams to the cult-for-a-reason Black Pepper Recharge Body Wash, I loved it all. To this day I still use a (now-battered) leather Molton Brown weekend bag for short trips.

But I digress. The point is, ever since we started Birchbox over two years ago, I have been not-so-subtly hinting that the brand would be an amazing addition to our product assortment. My patience has been rewarded: Molton Brown has landed in the Birchbox Shop! Just in time for holiday gifting, we’ve debuted an edited selection of their most-loved products, from a duo of their Naran Ji hand soap and lotion (my personal favorite) to that bestselling Re-Charge Black Pepper Body Wash—one present that’s guaranteed to make both ladies and gents on your list happy.

And if you want to make me happy (looking at you, Mom), feel free to wrap up the Stowaway Kit for me.

7 Super Unique Gifts for Creative Beauty Buffs

We fell hard for Natalie Alcala last fall, when the LA-based writer and blogger spent a week guest blogging for us. In fact, we loved her posts so much that we asked her to be a contributing editor. In addition to blogging for us once a week, she’ll also be writing for the Birchbox Magazine and keeping us up to speed on all things fashion, beauty, and fun.

We’ve been talking about it a lot lately, but only because it’s so true! Finding holiday gifts for your friends is always a stressful process. Do you go for the foolproof item on his or her wish list, or do you leave that up to their family and instead scour for out-of- the-box items that they didn’t even know existed? Oftentimes, I veer toward the latter, simply because it’s more fun. Thanks to the wondrous World Wide Web, there are a slew of sites that offer inventive giftables in a range of categories—including beauty. Here are some of my current favorites.

Elizabeth Dehn of Beauty Bets Shares Her Holiday Gift Picks
Ah, the holidays—the greatest gift-giving time of the year. We know how tough it can be to come up with the perfect present for every friend, acquaintance, co-worker, and loved one in your life, which is why we’ve turned to our favorite tastemakers to tell us what they’ve got their eye on this season. This week’s trendsetter: Minnesota-based beauty enthusiast and founder of BeautyBets.com, Elizabeth Dehn.
1. Paper goods ranks a close second to beauty products in my world, and no one does them better than Sugar Paper. Plus, I like any excuse I can get to combine stripes, bows, and gold foil.
2. Mine is an old-school whiskey-drinking kind of family—mint juleps in the summer and Manhattans in the winter. Bulleit is the best.
3. More stripes and gold foil! I can’t get enough. And what girl wouldn’t want this French Annick Goutal votive on her desk or vanity?
4. Pop these wooden toothbrushes in your weekender as a cute hostess gift. Or hand them out to your own overnight guests along with a tube of Marvis toothpaste.
5. My brother is getting this felt Old Calgary wallet for Christmas. Like his Minnesota-raised sister, he has a thing for heritage design with a North Woods vibe.
6. Best. Hand cream. Ever. Rodin Olio Lusso Crema is as rich as its price tag, yet miraculously non-greasy. For the girl—or the boss—who has everything.
7.  A rose body oil by any other name would not smell as real or as heavenly. Plus its formula is all natural, just like everything else in One Love Organics’ life-changing skincare line.
8. And speaking of life-changing: J.Crew vintage pajama sets are the best gift I’ve ever received. This year, I’m asking Santa for the short-sleeved version.
9. No style blogger can seem to get enough of Clare Vivier’s clutches or her modern use of bright colors with soft, neutral leathers.
10. There’s something incredible satisfying about scribbling on a thick, white notepad. Not a day goes by that someone doesn’t ooh and ahh over my stack of from Russell + Hazel.
Need the perfect gift for anyone on your list? We recommend the Birchbox Home box!
