Morocco has been on my travel bucket list for ages, and I finally pulled the trigger this year by planning a 10-day trip to the medieval city of Fes, the small town of Ouirgane in the Atlas Mountains, and the bustling hubbub of Marrakech. Between the souks, the tagines, and the architecture, I have a feeling Morocco and I will get along famously. Here’s what I’m bringing when I hop on a plane tomorrow:
1. Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare™ Alpha Beta® Glow Pad
I never go a day without SPF, but that doesn’t mean I want to look like a ghost. These pads from Dr. Gross will give me the hint of a tan, minus the sun damage.
2. Supergoop!® Daily Correct SPF 35 CC Cream
Speaking of SPF, there’s nothing I like better than combining my sun protection with color correction, antioxidants, and light diffusion. This Supergoop! CC Cream packs all those benefits into one product.

Winter (and all the lovely skin conditions that come with it) is still here, yet spring is right around the corner. Frankly, it’s a bit of a confusing time when it comes to shopping. Are you supposed to buy a sundresses or coats? Sandals or boots?

If you ask us to pick our single favorite beauty product, it has to be lip stain. It’s the quickest way to look chic and pulled together, it lasts all day so you get major bang for your buck, and it’s consistently theone thing people compliment us on. You might think it’s stressful to have a friend who’s a crowned beauty queen—and okay, sometimes it is when you’re comparing your picture poses and smiles to hers—but if you keep your eyes and ears open, you’ll get tips on products that you might not always think about or prioritize. From nights out in New York City to semi-formal Southern weddings, we’ve spent hours in prep with our beauty queen bestie and picked up these regal tips.
1. Key beauty ingredient to know: Retinol.
Mary is a very pale person, and has shied away from Retinol-filled creams for fear of a burn. But when used properly, the vitamin A derivative enhances the appearance of skin in the most important ways: it fights fine lines and sun spots, loosens blackheads, quells breakouts and helps shed pore-clogging dead skin cells, leaving complexions softer and more radiant.
JolieBox co-founder Mathilde Lacombe. Yes, we have a ginormous girl crush on her.
Last week, we spilled the beans about our international expansion and our acquisition of JolieBox. Today, we’re introducing you to Mathilde Lacombe, the company’s co-founder and editorial director. Mathilde began as a beauty blogger and Elle reporter before starting JolieBox with four friends. She says, “I’m a complete beauty addict! I love discovering new brands and trends and learning other girls’ beauty habits.” Hmm…we think Mathilde and her crew will fit in perfectly at the Birchbox offices. The 24-year-old editor now oversees JolieBox’s editorial and marketing teams in the UK, France, and Spain—and recently got married! We’ll be adding periodic dispatches from Mathilde and her editors soon—for now, here’s a little bit about her!
