Throw out the notion that beige is in any way boring—everyone should be incorporating this texture into their wardrobe this season. From sassy sun hats to chic-meets-rustic flats, there are plenty of ways to experiment with this woven wonder.
Aside from a sun hat, you’ll also need a good SPF! Check out our sunscreen cheat sheet here.

Sure, as a bride, you get the spotlight. But don’t forget about your girls! If you’ve ever been a bridesmaid, you know how much work the job can entail: dress shopping, nerve-calming, party-throwing…the list goes on and on.
So brides, please remember to thank your bridesmaids kindly. Here are a few great creative gifts to buy or make your besties:

1) Custom Make-Up Palette: Create a wedding day palette for your girls by mixing and matching different eyeshadows, blushes, and glosses that your bridesmaids can wear on the big day. Click here for the tutorial.

Is it just us, or is it impossible to get out of bed these days? More likely than not, it’s because the weather here has been rainy and chilly—and staying curled up under the covers seems like a much better option than stomping through puddles. But if you must venture outside, you might as well do it in style: think eye-catching umbrellas, bright yellow rain coats, and patent leather pieces.
And once you pick out your outfit, here’s how to combat rainy day hair.
We fell hard for Natalie Alcala last fall, when the LA-based writer and blogger spent a week guest blogging for us. In fact, we loved her posts so much that we asked her to be a contributing editor. In addition to blogging for us once a week, she’ll also be writing for the Birchbox Magazine and keeping us up to speed on all things fashion, beauty, and fun.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been collecting images of nebulas. There’s something about these colorful interstellar clouds that fascinate me. My favorite has always been the Eagle Nebula, which is a young open cluster of stars in the constellation Serpens. I have an image of it on both my business card and website. (Nerd much?)

Glimmering gold accessories are a quick way to give us a touch of sophistication and add a little luxe to our more basic styles. Not to mention, shimmery gold makeup is one of the hottest new spring trends that we can’t get enough of. (Hint: Keep an eye out for a little glittery gold in some of our May boxes).

I love a good fruit print. In addition to offering a charming sartorial statement, there’s something about wearing fruit that instantly lifts your mood. Maybe because eating fruit is fun and it’s an honest to goodness treat. With that said, this Coachella weekend, I’m swapping predictable neon, animal print, and floral numbers for a bounty of produce-inspired pieces that are sure to harvest plenty of smiles.

We have a deep, abiding love for all things fashion, which is why we often turn to stylish online boutique ModCloth to snag everything from chunky, bold bracelets to fancy frocks. This week, we asked the ModCloth fashion mavens to impart some of their style wisdom to us—and therefore you.

Can one appear both sweet and fierce simultaneously? My personal fashion mantra says yes!

Every so often, all we crave is an old-fashioned movie night. Sometimes, things go wonderfully (like when we watched the German silent film Metropolis). And sometimes they go terribly (such as when we discovered Melissa Joan Hart and Mario Lopez’s Holiday in Handcuffs). So we thought we’d share a few of our go-to films for fashion and beauty inspiration for the next time you indulge in an impromptu movie night. These flicks feature femmes with expertly coiffed ‘dos, killer eyeliner, and, of course, obsession-worthy outfits.

Bonnie & Clyde (1967) — Looking bad never looked as good as it did in this 1967 classic, which starred Faye Dunaway as Bonnie and Warren Beatty as Clyde. Bonnie’s swooping haircut, swipe of black eyeliner, and chic hat-and-scarf pairings have become as iconic as the duo itself.
