Touring the Ruffian Office
Last week, we had the chance to visit the studio of Ruffian, one of our favorite fashion brands. For years we’ve loved the label and its upscale aesthetic, and their work space certainly didn’t disappoint. Filled with beautiful trinkets, thought-provoking art, sketches galore, and racks of gorgeous garments, we were in heaven. If there’s one celebrity I look forward to seeing strut the red carpet, it’s rising star Rita Ora. Her attitude is refreshingly irreverent, and so is her style. As a huge fan of crimson lipstick, I loved that Rita rocked bold red lips on Sunday night at the MTV European Music Awards. I often use red lipstick to brighten up my shadowy fall wardrobe, but Rita’s head-to-toe crimson look inspired me to double down on red.

In the world of high-end fashion, a plus-size model is pretty much any woman who shows the slightest hint of curves—hence why Kate Upton has occasionally been classified in this category. Glossy lady mags and other mainstream media outlets have a bad reputation for over-featuring particularly thin women. If you wear anything above a size 2 (the average American woman is a size 12-14), it can sometimes feel impossible to find a model who shares your body type.
Now a new breed of bloggers are increasing the visibility of plus-size women in fashion. The New York Times reports that independent plus-size fashion bloggers are gaining a following by showcasing their ability to dress in on-trend outfits that show off (rather than hide) their bodies.
