SCORE HEALTHY LOCKS BY THE END OF LABOR DAY WITH THIS POWERHOUSE KIT
What is it? An exclusive, Herculean collection of hair products designed to revive stressed out tresses and combat the dulling effects of heat styling.
Who is it perfect for? If you’ve never met a styling tool you didn’t like, routinely dye your locks, or simply spent too much time in the sun and surf this summer, this nourishing kit is for you. Even if you’re not a blow drying fiend, the moisturizing formulas will help you score super healthy locks.
How do I use it? While showering, use the Clarifying Shampoo to wash away all the things you don’t want in your hair (like chlorine and mineral deposits), while leaving the things you do (like your new highlights). Then, apply the creamy masque and let it sit for about five minutes. Post-shower, apply the protein-packed conditioning spray to help rebuild weakened hair from the inside out. Bonus: The travel-sized Fluoro5 Elixer Restore & Repair Oil protects against UV rays and reduces drying time.

If you follow our blog regularly, you’ve probably sensed that the Birchbox office is basically a beauty-product candyland. As exciting as that is, it can also make it hard to find the formulas that really work for me. We recently added a number of products from Shu Uemura’s Art of Hair to our shop, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that the line had products that worked with many different hair types. From brittle and over-processed strands to extra limp locks, there’s a Shu Uemura formula that can help your specific hair dilemma. Here, a breakdown of my favorite products and how to use them:
We’re guilty of sticking with the same hair cut for years — if it’s not broke, why fix it? — but that can be a little boring. But not everyone has our issue. Paulina, one of our amazing operations associates, is always eyeing new cuts and styles. She’ll be sharing her tress inspiration and tips every other week in Hairistocracy. Her latest hair obsession: virgin coconut oil!
Months ago, my best friend told me to get my hands on some virgin coconut oil from Wholefoods. She’s been coloring her hair for years and swears that applying this natural remedy to strands overnight restores her dye-damaged hair back to the softness she has as a little girl.
I’ve been looking for a major moisture boost ever since I colored my hair for the first time a couple weeks ago. My virgin hair had been bouncy and shiny and I have not enjoyed my new dry and brittle texture. So I took my friend’s advice and popped for some virgin coconut oil and all I can say is wow. She was right. If your hair is feeling a little (or a lot!) on the parched side, follow these s simple directions once a month and reap the benefits of added moisture, protection from breakage, and possibly even hair growth!

Ionic Hairdryer. If you must use heat-styling tools, make it something with tourmaline technology. I didn’t believe the hype until I tried a T3 Bespoke Labs Featherweight dryer and emerged a sleeker, frizz-free version of myself. If you have a ton of hair, you’ll especially love how lightening-fast these dry it.

Air Dry. I never thought I’d utter those words after a lifetime of blowouts, but when your hair has texture one of the best things you can do is WALK AWAY. A little curl cream or leave-in conditioner is fine, but then it’s hands off. Your hair will dry into something soft and beachy—as long as you don’t touch it!
Try Phyto 7, our favorite daily leave-in. Smooth it in, and leave it alone!
