For those of us not lucky enough to be born into the high status life of Panem’s Capitol, soon we can get the look of The Hunger Games's elite thanks to Covergirl's upcoming Capitol Collection, which is slated to hit stores this fall. But like the games themselves, the details regarding the collection are hush hush.
If the name and preview images (like the one above) are any indication, we’ll probably see products inspired by the outrageous and high couture looks often worn by the Capitol’s residents. The only question is how extreme they’ll go—bright purple lipstick? Large, delicate false paper lashes? Neon green eyeshadow?
What products do you hope to see from The Hunger Games universe?
If you missed it (or perhaps want to watch it a few hundred more times), check out The Hunger Games: Catching Fire sneak peek here.
We’re a tiny bit in love with Shyema Azam’s blog, Beauty and the Feast. I thought it’d be fun to write a post on, you know, the four or five beauty products I carry around in my purse everyday. But when I dumped out the insides of my bag, I found 18 products that I’ve been toting around! These are my unedited findings:
1. Viviscal and 2. Brightening Formula supplements: There’s just no way for me to remember to take vitamins and supplements unless I have them on me at all times. I’ve been desperately trying to grow out my hair (I feel like it’s at an awkward length) and this helps. I swear if my skin glows, much of the credit goes to Glisodin supplements.
3. Smith’s Rosebud Salve: The famous moisturizing balm in a convenient tube.
The dynamic duo behind Beauty Bender, Kathryn Romeyn and Alexis Johnson, have an impeccable eye for deciphering up-and-coming cosmetics trends and finding experts to give the lowdown on how to wear them. (It must be the decade’s worth of magazine curating experience they have between them.) We can’t get enough of their gorgeous site, and happily, for a whole week they’re sharing all of their beauty insight on our blog!
1. Lip Balm
Still produced with the same formula as in 1899, when the company started, Bag Balm is our hands-down secret weapon. The emollient, antiseptic ointment is unparalleled for softening hands, feet, and most especially lips.
It’s hard to find a lip product that doesn’t just moisturize and plump, but adds the perfect tinge of color, includes SPF, and smells incredible—but doesn’t taste like anything. This balm contains technology that tints everyone’s lips differently, in concert with their distinct chemistry. Turns out, it’s addictive.
Courtne Smith, a.k.a Queen Shmink, is a world traveler with extraordinary fashion and beauty sense. The Toronto-based blogger is one of our favorite ladies to follow on the Interwebz because she makes her impeccable style (fancy fur is her specialty) feel so accessible and easy to recreate. Plus, she always has a killer manicure. This week, she teaches us her secrets that keep her perfectly primped when she’s both at home or on the road with her bff, Drake.
For some reason, I find trips to the drugstore to be extremely…therapeutic. I always pick up the same essentials during my regular visit to the drugstore. Here’s what I mean:
