3 Hair Problems Solved With One Brand: Shu Uemura Art of Hair

image

If you follow our blog regularly, you’ve probably sensed that the Birchbox office is basically a beauty-product candyland. As exciting as that is, it can also make it hard to find the formulas that really work for me. We recently added a number of products from Shu Uemura’s Art of Hair to our shop, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that the line had products that worked with many different hair types. From brittle and over-processed strands to extra limp locks, there’s a Shu Uemura formula that can help your specific hair dilemma.  Here, a breakdown of my favorite products and how to use them:

I could not be more excited that some spring weather is finally here. With a new season, comes new beauty trends. Case in point: blue eyeshadow dominated the Spring ‘13 runways but we know for most women it conjures up images of bad 80s Glamour Shots. Not to worry, it is possible to wear blue eye makeup without looking cheesy. Watch to see two different blue looks on Birchbox staffers Bre and Juliette.

What 80’s trends do you hope make a comeback?  Let us know in the comments.

How To Support Your College Basketball Team’s Colors: Birchbox Intern Diaries

Now that the NCAA Men’s College Basketball Tournament has started, our office is all about showing off our team spirit for several different schools. We’ve filled out our brackets and are anxiously waiting for the results. This week on the Birchbox Intern Diaries, Whitney and I show you how to support your team with face paint. We chose a design inspired by the Louisville Cardinals but you can adapt this to fit your school’s colors and mascot.

Right now I am totally loving this new music video from New Kids On The Block: Remix (I Like The). The track is off of their upcoming album 10, dropping on April 2.  Not only does this video feature Artemis Pebdani from It’s Always Sunny in Phialdelphia, but the NKOTB men are looking better than ever. Between this and their upcoming Package Tour, with 98 Degrees and Boyz II Men, looks like a full-fledged comeback is in the works.

How do you think this new song compares to NKOTB classics? Are you excited for their comeback? Let us know in the comments!

I’m normally pretty good at painting my own nails but when it comes to nail art, I usually need a little instruction. So when I stumbled upon this Nail Art for Beginners video tutorial I had to share! YouTube beauty guru MissJenFABULOUS, shows you how to get three awesome manicures in just a few easy steps.
I’m a fan of all three styles, but I’m most excited to try the first design. Even though MissJenFABULOUS uses a rainbow collection of colors on that first look, she also suggests using metallics for a more subdued style by layering silver or gold with a black base coat. I’m thinking it would make for an edgy manicure that’s perfect for a night out. (Guess which manicure I’ll be trying this weekend?)

Staffers’ (and Members) Best Beauty Tips: Birchbox Intern Diaries

In an office filled with beauty lovers, it’s only natural that many of our staffers have some secret beauty tips hidden up their sleeves. Last week we asked three Birchbox staffers what their all-time favorite hair, makeup, or skincare tip is and where they discovered it. Watch to learn all about their favorite tips.

Since we know our members are also super savvy, we asked our YouTube viewers to share their favorite tips as well. Here’s a few of our favorites from the video comments:

littlewomanlynn: “My fave beauty tip is to use rose water to clean your face.”

chicachew: “My tip is to keep a rose salve handy. It’s perfect for moisturizing cuticles or rough patches, taming flyways and giving a dewy gloss to cheeks!”

TheBeautyBox1211: “Swatching lipstick on your fingertips rather than your hand because the texture is more similar to your lips!”

belinda z: “For a DIY matte top coat, just mix cornstarch with an inexpensive clear polish.”

Tell us in the comments what your favorite beauty tip is too!
