Street Style Inspiration: Brighten Up

My appreciation of street style is no surprise, and I am constantly going to The Sartorialist to get inspired by different fashion and beauty looks. Through Scott Schuman’s lens, it’s easy to see that it’s not just about the outfit. The shade of lipstick, arch of the eyebrows, or pearlescent tone of the skin can transform and elevate any look. I recently ran across one of my favorites from the archives: this colorful shot of Niama. Her stylish outfit conveys the look of an urban tourist in a tropical, concrete jungle. But it’s Niama’s radiant fuchsia lips that steal the show by adding a touch of brightness and playfulness to complete her look.

Make Dark Circles Disappear with a Deep Brown Corrector

Deepica before (left) and after (right) applying deep brown corrector.

On days when I’m makeup-free, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been asked if I pulled an all-nighter because of the dark circles I have under my eyes. It’s a tough beauty wrap I was born with, and I know several Indian women, like myself, who have the same dilemma.

I use to think the only way to cover up this imperfection was with under eye concealer. But I recently discovered that there’s actually a wonder product designed to make dark spots on your face appear relatively non-existent.

Beauty Resolution: Experiment with Lip Color

In 2011, I resolve to have more fun with lip color. For a really long time, I’ve been stuck in a sheer pink gloss rut because it’s just so easy to apply and it works well with my fair complexion. Next year though, I plan on amping up my daily lip color routine by experimenting with super-vibrant hues, like bright reds for the rest of winter and warm corals come spring and summer. To pull off these shades the right way, I’ll not only be looking to invest in some new lipsticks, but also a couple of quality lip liners (precision will be key to getting these looks right). — Meredith
