It’s day three of our Zoya + Birchbox Custom Polish Sweepstakes! We found Melissa when she responded to our recent Birchbox Mom’s post. She told us that she was a Birchbox mom too and that she valued Birchbox as a way for busy moms like herself to treat themselves every month. If there’s one thing we love around here, it’s moms, so we reached out to learn more about Melissa. Here’s what she had to say:

We’re lucky to have a pretty extraordinary tech team. Not only are they computer geniuses, but they’re also incredibly cool. How often do you find a group of developers who are also ultra marathoners, solo outdoorsmen, and former cheerleaders? We rest our case. The lastest addition to the tech team, Becky, is no different. Fun fact: I’m obsessed with animals. I would totally be a crazy dog or cat lady if my boyfriend would let me get away with it. We’ve topped out at two (one dog, one cat) and he’s put his foot down on any more—not for my lack of trying, negotiating, and begging.
Beauty confession: I tried cutting my own bangs last year and ended up wearing them in a barrette for the next six months. Just because a YouTube video makes it look easy doesn’t mean you should try it (especially not after drinking).
Worth the splurge: Laser hair removal (a total time saver!).
Best beauty trick? Noxema wipes are my best friend. I carry them in my bag for use any time I’m sweaty or dirty, am too tired to correctly wash my face, or just need to clean up. They’re also ideal for long flights because they moisturize as well as cleanse. And being a germaphobe I use them to clean my armrest and tray table as well. Plus they’re economical.
Even on our busiest days, we somehow make time to click on over to Twitter to see what is going on. What can we say? We’re tweet-happy! And seriously, you can learn a lot from Twitter. Like what Snooki looks like without bronzer and eyeliner—mind-blowing. Here, our favorite Twitter moments from this week.
First and foremost Snooki took the Internet by storm when she uploaded a picture of herself with no makeup! Reviews were highly positive. Snooki: Team Birchbox approves! Put the bronzer away!
If you follow the Birchbox Team on Twitter, you already know we are VERY big Downton Abbey fans. We couldn’t look away when we saw a heated argument breakout over Edith and whether we should pity or hate her. What do you think?

Beauty confession: I just started using night cream this year! Obviously it’s totally improved my skin. I keep getting compliments and have to pretend I have no idea why my skin looks so nice.
Currently loving: Jouer Lip Enhancer. I got a sample in the Birchbox I received when I came in for my first interview and was immediatly hooked!
Worth the splurge: Moroccan Oil. Does that count as a splurge? I’m addicted to all of the products. I use their Hydrating Styling Cream when I blow my hair out, Curl Control Mousse in the summer (it’s so not mousse—they should call it Foamy Goodness), and Intense Curl Cream if it’s super humid.
Best beauty trick: Hammer-style blow dryers. Some people make fun of me but I’ve been using them since I was in eighth grade and it makes blowing out curly or wavy hair one million times easier. I’ve used all of the brands but currently I have an infinitiPro by Conair. Don’t laugh… just trust me :)

Back when our subscriber count was in the four digits, we joked that mamas Beauchamp, Chen, and Barna were keeping the lights on in the office by buying face cream. Nowadays, even though our membership and our team have grown, we still have plenty of maternal support. We love seeing how our creative members repurpose their old Birchboxes. We’ve seen them used as drawer organizers, collage canvases, and nail polish storage containers. But this most recent creation might take the cake: Kathryn, the eight-year-old daughter of Birchbox subscriber Michelle, turned one of her mom’s old boxes into one of the world’s most iconic structures. Pretty impressive, no? We gave the duo a call to get the inside scoop.

How long have you been a Birchbox subscriber? Six months.
How did you find out about Birchbox? Someone posted it on Facebook and I was like, “What the heck is a Birchbox?” So I did some research and immediately fell in love with the idea and subscribed that day!
What is your favorite product so far?Alex and Isabelle hair ties. We both love them and have bought three sets!
How did you decide to use a Birchbox as part of the Eiffel Tower? Kathryn’s idea! She had a school assignment to do a presentation on a country and she had to build something to accompany the project. She choose France. We decided we’d try to make the Eiffel Tower out of things we had around the house. When it came time to create the base she said, “How about a Birchbox?”
