6 Awesome Links We Can’t Get Enough Of: Intern Diaries
You might recall the Birchbox Intern Diaries with former editorial intern Charisse. Now our summer interns Julia, Katrina, and Geraldine are heroically taking over the series (though without a camera). For the next month, every Thursday they’ll be sharing their discoveries from around the Birchbox office. Today, they’re surfing through our Brand Partnership Team’s favorite pieces of entertainment media.
We’ll be honest—during our downtime in the middle of the workday, we (like so many out there) catch up on cool videos and interesting websites. During our most recent media break, we hopped over to the ever savvy Beauty Partnerships team to see what internet sensations they’ve been scoping out lately. If you’re in need of a midday pick-me-up, these quirky Buzzfeed pieces and hilarious Tumblrs are sure to do the trick:
27 Gifs that Perfectly Capture the 90s [BuzzFeed]: "I’m a nostalgic person, so I love all of Buzzfeed’s Rewind articles, especially this one. Also, Jesse and The Rippers on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon was the best!" —Kelsey Rozier, Brand Campaign Strategy Associate
Japanese Boy and His French Bulldog are the World’s Cutest Friends Ever [BuzzFeed]:"What’s cuter than a puppy or a cute little kid with a bowl cut?  Said puppy and cute kid together—hanging out as best friends!  This post is guaranteed to put a smile on your face.” —Savannah Sachs, Intern, Beauty Partnerships
Suri’s Burn Book [Tumblr]: "I just really love this blog. It’s been around for a bit, but the royal birth has given her some great new material!" —Caroline Everett, Brand Campaign Strategy Senior Manager
The 15 Most Difficult Would You Rather Questions of All Time [BuzzFeed]: "This was released on Buzzfeed last week. These ‘Would You Rather’ questions are funny and strangely thought-provoking in some instances." —Kendall Maximini, Merchandising & Marketing Associate
27 Signs You’re an Obsessive List Maker [BuzzFeed]: "I am guilty of every single one of these, but that’s okay! It made me so happy to know that there are other people out there in the world who love list-making as much as I do." —Kerrie Lopez, Brand Campaign Strategy Manager
The Wizard of Ahhhs by Todrick Hall [YouTube]: This is one of our favorite leisure time links. Not only can this YouTuber sing, but he’s also creative and hilarious with his remakes of Disney classics and modern media. This take on The Wizard of Oz is just as magical as the original. —Team Content Interns

Your May 2013 Unboxing Videos!

June—and summer—are finally here, which means your latest Birchbox will be in your mailbox very soon! We’ve found that taking a trip down memory lane is the perfect distraction while we (not so) patiently wait for our new boxes.

This month, we loved discovering all of your beauty and unboxing rituals on Twitter and Instagram, and watching you share your favorite samples on YouTube! Here are just a few of your awesome unboxing videos from last month:

Jennifer was in love with her Pilot Acroball PureWhite Pen (a Birchbox Find) even before she discovered it wrote in purple! And just when she didn’t think her box could get any better, she fell in love with Isaac Mizrahi’s debut fragrance, FABULOUS.

Our All-Time Favorite Beauty Blunders in the Ultimate Makeup How-Not-to Video

We talk an awful lot about eye-catching beauty looks on the blog, and today we’re featuring a particularly bold one that caught our eye. Think of every beauty blunder you’ve ever committed—then imagine wearing all of them at the same time. YouTube beauty guru Sharon Farrell created that exact look in the video above using a list of makeup pet peeves from this forum on Reddit.

Suffice to say, it’s the ultimate tutorial in seriously awesome makeup snafus, from too-dark foundation and overly contoured cheeks to droopy eyeliner and goopy gloss. (I’m pretty sure I’ve committed at least three of these offenses over the years. My excuse: I grew up in the ’90s!). Watch, learn, and love—we totally did.

What’s your makeup pet peeve?

The Craziest Thing We’ve Ever Seen Someone Use to Make Nail Art: Video Of The Week
There are so many amazing videos on YouTube, we have a hard time keeping up with all of them. You name it, there’s a video about it. Wondering how to turn flat, limp strands into sexy supermodel hair? There’s a video for that. Always wanted to see what a moonwalking pony would look like? There’s a video for that. That’s why we’ve decided to choose one video a week to share with you. Keep reading for this week’s pick.
We’re big fans of using household items like tape to add some extra flair to our manicures, but we’ve never thought of using dental floss as a nail art tool before. This week we’re trying out this tutorial by CutePolish for getting an abstract stripe design using a dental floss pick. Watch below to see how to get the look yourself.

We know not everyone’s celebrating Easter this sunday, but when we caught sight of these glitter eggs they were too cute to pass up!  Jessie Jane from Lilyshop shared this easy DIY video to help you add some sparkle to your Easter decor. Jessie goes into a step-by-step tutorial on how to make the glitter eggs, but here are just a few tips I found to be extra helpful:
Use blown-out eggs so it’s easier to apply the glue and glitter.  For a guide on how to blow out eggs, check out this video tutorial.
Apply a thin layer of glue after the initial glitter application has dried to seal everything onto the egg.

Right now I am totally loving this new music video from New Kids On The Block: Remix (I Like The). The track is off of their upcoming album 10, dropping on April 2.  Not only does this video feature Artemis Pebdani from It’s Always Sunny in Phialdelphia, but the NKOTB men are looking better than ever. Between this and their upcoming Package Tour, with 98 Degrees and Boyz II Men, looks like a full-fledged comeback is in the works.

This week we’re sharing this awesome Cute Girls Hairstyles braided hair tutorial. The finished style looks very elaborate and complicated. Turns out, all you need to do is separate the hair at the crown of the head and french braid in a circular path.  This is by far one of the prettiest french braids I’ve ever seen and is a lot easier to achieve than it looks.

What do you think? Could this be the new milkmaid braid?
