5 Runway-Inspired Ponytails For Any Holiday Occasion

While the usual low-slung pony is great for day-to-day, holiday party season provides the ideal opportunity to experiment with a different style. That’s why we’ve teamed up with one of our favorite sites, Beauty High. Each week, they’ll be sending over a few runway shots to inspire you to try something new for your upcoming festive fetes.

One of the biggest trends on the runways for the past couple of seasons has been the dressed up ponytail. From slicked-back to slightly disheveled, there is a pony out there for you, no matter your style. And we’re not talking about that haphazard, running-to-the-gym ponytail—we’re talking about a ponytail that you can wear to your boyfriend’s parent’s house.

With all of your holiday events over the next few days, having a couple of great sophisticated styles to rely on is a must. Check out a few of our favorite runway-ready ponytails to try below.

Extra-Pointy Talons At Tracy Reese

"She wanted a long talon," said lead manicurist Tracy Lee for Sally Hansen at yesterday’s Tracy Reese show. “We decided on the pointy moon instead of the traditional rounded moon just to give that pointy talon an extra bit of exaggeration and to make it a little unique.” Indeed, the nails stood out from other looks we’ve seen, not only because of the edgy shapes and geometric designs, but also the color combos. There were four different shade pairings: red and orange, gray and brown, nude and black, and blue and turquoise. Some of the polishes were from Tracy Reese’s spring/summer polish collab with Sally Hansen, but others were just classic hues. Learn how to rock this edgy look after the jump!
