Birchbox: Top 4 In-Flight Beauty Tips
Here are our top four tips for surviving a long flight—from the best thing to wear, the products you need to stay hydrated and happy, and much more.
During the summer I always become hyper-aware of my health. Warm weather means I’m baring more skin (eek), and spending a lot more time outside—which gets my brain going about fitness and good eating. Since I’m more likely to spend a lazy afternoon lounging and chowing down on carbs than going for a run, I’m using these five videos to motivate me to make even more time for my health this summer.
The easy yoga routine she taught us is ideal for staying happy and healthy while traveling, but is also a great way to start each day. Yoga is by far my favorite exercise and helps keep me centered when I’m stressed.
Earlier this week, my longstanding dream of shooting a Birchbox yoga video came true. We were lucky enough to snag Tara Stiles, founder of Strala Yoga and all-around yoga rock star, for a quick shoot. I’m a fan of Stiles’ come-one-come-all approach to yoga—not to mention the fact that she says her studio’s unofficial soundtrack is Thrift Shop (g-rated version, of course).
In addition to demo-ing some very useful travel yoga poses, Stiles also showed off her brand-new line of Reebok yoga wear. She worked with the brand’s designers to create pieces that are super comfortable, flattering, and fun. There’s an obvious attention to detail: the sports bras have thin-but-not-too-thin straps that are supportive but also feminine, and the tanks have slightly lower-cut armholes that lengthen the look of your torso. My personal fave: the “get downward” burnout tee (pictured above). One last thing: anyone who has blown a few paychecks on $90 workout pants will appreciate that everything, save for a duffel and hoodie, is under $50.
Over on our magazine you can read about January’s Birchbox Crush, model-turned-yoga-master Tara Stiles. We love her for many reasons (her refreshingly straightforward approach to yoga, her commitment to living a healthy lifestyle while also keeping a healthy sense of humor, her awesome playlists during practices at her Manhattan studio), but when we discovered that her favorite indulgence of the moment is a homemade (and healthier) version of a Wendy’s Frosty, our crush kind of morphed into an obsession.
