We’re always talking about the staffers in the Birchbox office, but the ones who you interact with everyday are the hard-working members of our Customer Operations team. These fabulous folks handle all of your customer service woes and we wanted to give you a chance to get to know them even better. This week, two of the team’s all-stars (the lovely Jennie and Kara) catch up with the co-founder of our favorite curls-centric brand.
We love the gals over at Miss Jessie’s Original because they know everything there is to know about quality hair products and styling—especially when it comes to curls. This month, some of our subscribers received Miss Jessie’s products and you told us that you had some questions.
We were lucky enough to have co-founder and co-CEO of the brand, Titi Branch, stop by Birchbox HQ for a visit last week, and we took the opportunity to get some answers for you straight from the source. Take a peek below to find out Titi’s recommendations on how to use some of her favorite products, why the Miss Jessie’s line isn’t just for curly-haired ladies, and the one treatment that everyone should get—regardless of hair type.
Q: How is Miss Jessie’s different from other haircare lines?
A: I think the one thing that differentiates us from other haircare lines is our level of expertise. Our products started in a salon over 16 years ago, where we saw a real need for curly-hair products. Because we started with a salon that caters to and focuses on this very particular niche, we were able to create excellent products that work. We’re a small company, but we know our haircare.
We’ve been planning our dream weddings since we were five years old. So it’s no surprise that we can’t get enough of Lover.ly, a wedding inspiration and e-commerce site that lets you search through pics of swoon-worthy gowns, bouquets, and everything else you need for the big day. Once a week, the ladies behind Lover.ly will be sharing their expert advice for getting through the craziness of the season—whether you’re standing at the altar or enjoying a view of it from the audience.

Laid-back, 1970s style is a big trend in weddings right now, so it’s no surprise that effortless hairstyles inspired by the decade are high on brides’ request lists, too. This new take on romantic bohemian style is a little more urban and a little more rough around the edges than popular styles from a few years ago, and it’s the epitome of unfussy chic. Here are our favorite looks from Lover.ly to inspire you.
With so many curly- and wavy-haired staffers here at Birchbox—we know as well as anyone that it can be tough to find the right products, regimens and tools to help you manage your mane. (Plus, with summer heat and humidity coming soon we’re gearing up to fight the frizz). But thankfully, this week we’re getting even more help to tackle all of our hair snafus!
Join us tomorrow, Thursday May 30, at 3pm ET for a Twitter Chat with Miko Branch, one of the founders of curly hair brand Miss Jessie’s. She’ll be answering any and all of your questions about curly and wavy hair—from the perfect product for you to the tips and tricks she uses on her own hair.
To participate, tweet your questions with #AskMissJessies and follow @birchbox and @Miss_Jessies to keep up with the conversation. PLUS, ten lucky winners will receive Miss Jessie’s newest styling product, Jelly Soft Curls. Don’t be shy! We’re looking forward to hearing from you tomorrow.

Leave it to a social media community manager to create a custom hashtag for her vacation! Our Rachel S. is en route to Mexico to attend her friends’ wedding in Puerta Vallarta. Before she left we took a peak into her toiletries and makeup bags. Here are a few of her favorite products that she brought along:
1. Supergoop: Well, duh. Sun protection is my numero uno concern!
2. Miracle Skin Transformer Treat & Conceal: I’m addicted to this concealer. It’s perfect for hiding under-eye circles (which I hope to get rid of on this trip with a the serious dose of relaxation) and any unexpected blemishes.
Last night, I ventured downtown with a couple other Birchbox staffers to attend the launch party for Miss Jessie’s new CurlBar here in New York. From soft waves to tightly wound spirals, Miss Jessie’s has a product for every curly haired gal. I have long, loose waves and yesterday I happily discovered Miss Jessie’s Original Quick Curls. Ops team member Noha, who has gorgeous tight ringlets, fell in love with Miss Jessie’s® Original Curly Meringue and says its the only product she’s ever been able to use alone without mousse.
