Brandon Holley’s Magazine Revelation: Notable Quotables

Notable Quotables is a weekly series featuring a great quote. Whether it’s the founder of a beloved beauty brand, an eccentric makeup artist making headlines, or even a super-stylish celebrity, our favorite tastemakers always have something worth sharing.

We’ve been big (huge!) fans of Lucky for pretty much forever and our adoration certainly extends to their editor in chief, Brandon Holley. Holley’s the driving force behind the Lucky Style Collective (aka all our favorite bloggers) and the Lucky Fashion and Beauty Blogger Conference (FABB). Stylelist recently sat down with her to talk all things beauty, fashion, and magazines. We found this quote from their interview particularly interesting:

"The magazine is where the editors rule and the website is where the editors get to play but the users start to rule." —Brandon Holley

Our favorite place to “play” on Birchbox.com is definitely the shop! Find all our favorite new products there.

Leighton Meester Thinks She Looks Weird With Makeup: Notable Quotables

Notable Quotables is a weekly series featuring a great quote. Whether it’s the founder of a beloved beauty brand, an eccentric makeup artist making headlines, or even a super-stylish celebrity, our favorite tastemakers always have something worth sharing.

You know we’re big fans of Leighton Meester (Gossip Girl, hello) and she’s almost always on top of our best of red carpet lists. So imagine our surprise to learn that the glamourous actress is actually much more at home with herself when she’s not wearing any makeup. In this month’s Lucky Magazine, Meester is refreshingly down-to-earth.
"I’ve stopped wearing makeup when I’m not working. For a while I thought I had dark circles and bad skin, and then I realized I was seeing myself that way because I didn’t recognize myself anymore without makeup. Now when I wear it, I think I look really weird!"
—Leighton Meester to Lucky Magazine
