There’s A 24K Gold Nail Polish (And Obvi, It’s Just For Celebs)

What a Girl Wants: Non-Scary Mascara

Photo: Raw Signal

Christina Aguilera put in a blockbuster performance at last night’s Grammys but I couldn’t help but be distracted by her spidery mascara. While dramatic, the look is decidedly Morticia Adams. (Could the clumpy lashes obscuring her vision been the reason for her slip?) But there are easy ways to get the oomph without the ‘ack!’

First step: Restraint. Instead of piling on the formula, pick an extra-dark mascara that will stand out, and apply two — max three — coats.

Next: Apply in a back-and-forth motion from the base of your lashes to the tips. This will distribute the formula evenly and give you an extra volume-y fringe.

Finally: Clean up! Separate any clumps. We don’t advise the old safety pin trick — instead, simply use a clean lash wand or a special lash comb and gently brush out any clumps.
