How To Take Your Makeup From Day to Night With Cynthia Rowley Beauty
We’re pretty darn thrilled that mega fashion designer Cynthia Rowley has expanded her stylish empire to include a line of beauty products—and we’re even more excited that Cynthia Rowley Beauty is sold exclusively in the Birchbox Shop. For a limited-time, you can score the trendsetter’s Exclusive Launch Collection for $42—a $57 value! The set includes the Gilded Canvas Bag, the Liquid Liner in Black Ink, and the Eye Shadow Palette - No.1.
To give you a better sense of just how magical these new launches are, we tapped celeb makeup artist Daniel Martin (who works with stars like Dianna Agron and our wanna-be BFF Jennifer Lawrence) to use them in a day to night video tutorial. Watch as he transitions our staffer Deepica’s beauty look using the palette and the liner—these products aren’t just beautiful, they really perform!

I’ll never forget my first hair coloring experience. I was in 8th grade and I somehow convinced my traditional south asian mother (who has a particular attachment to long black hair) to let me get highlights as a birthday gift. Let’s just say that the result of my highlights back then taught me one thing—moms are always right.
Since then, my desire to experiment with hair-coloring faded till it became relatively non-existent. I realized that my natural hair color suited my skin tone best, and that if I ever had an itch to change my hair, I should stick to haircuts and not new hair colors!
That all changed when I moved to New York about a year-and-a-half ago and started working at Birchbox. I live in a city with some of the best colorists in the world and am surrounded by inspiring trends everyday. How could I not take advantage of that? The real revelation happened when fellow Birchbox staffer Caitlin came into work with her hair lightened through a technique called balayage. I fell in love with the look since it wasn’t quite as dramatic as an ombre, and it felt more fresh and natural than highlights—perfect for summer!
4 Glam (And Supereasy) Ways to Wear a Hair Wrap
After hours of testing every style imaginable, we’ve found that the easiest fuss-free summer look is throwing your hair up in a scarf and calling it a day. (Plus, a head scarf has the added bonus of making you feel like Grace Kelly in To Catch a Thief). Which is why we asked staffer Deepica to show us how to rock a scarf four different ways.
These styles look equally chic with your hair in a pony or an oversized bun, and are perfect for days when it’s so hot out that you’re tempted to shave your head. Watch the video below and then let us know: where are you hanging out this weekend?

It’s hard to believe that today marks the two year anniversary of my college graduation. In celebration, my four best friends and I are planning a reunion trip this Memorial Day weekend to Puerto Rico! I love New York City, but I’m super pumped to lay on a beach with my girlfriends far, far away from the concrete jungle. Here are some of the essentials that I’m bringing along for my trip:
1. COOLA Cucumber Moisturizing SPF 30 for Face
COOLA is my favorite brand for anything SPF related. I’m indian, so I tan quick (understatement)! So it’s super important for me to carry a powerful SPF product when I’m in the sun and this one is great because it doesn’t feel heavy or leave any white residue on your face.
2. Klorane Gentle Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk
I tend to rock third day hair while on vacation, so carrying a dry shampoo with me is crucial. Klorane’s is great because it also adds texture to my hair—perfect for beachy waves.

Have you checked out the Birchbox Bonus Shop lately?
Oh, prom. Not so long ago, many a Birchbox staffer went all out for that big night, and of course we took tons of photos to commemorate the epic event. In honor of prom season, we knew we had to share these pictures with you—even if we’re cringing (or laughing) at the choices our younger selves made. The hair! Those dresses! That glittery eyeshadow… Read on for a peek at some of our, err, favorite memories from high school.

"This feels like a lifetime ago! Thankfully I went for classic hair and makeup, so I don’t have any regrets about that. And, in fact, I still have this dress. It’s a deep navy raw silk Ralph Lauren gown with a bright emerald lining. I’ll never wear it again, but I love it too much to give it away.”
If you’re a Birchbox subscriber, you’re probably familiar with Canadian brand Vasanti. Their Brighten Up! Cleanser is one of our bestsellers and a subscriber favorite. One thing you might not know about the brand, though, is that they carry a whole array of beauty products too.
So when our staff received an assortment of Vasanti makeup in the office to test out, it’s safe to say that we were more than a little excited. One thing stood out to us immediately—the brand definitely caters to women of all different skin tones. To really see how far the varied color palettes could go, we decided to test out four of our favorite spring makeup looks on four staffers with different skin tones. Check out what products and shades worked best on each of the staffers:
To all the ladies out there who wear glasses, I think you probably know how I feel. More than a few times I’ve considered giving up my hipster frames, cutting back on the expense of contacts and finally getting LASIK done. But the idea of having a laser on my eye made me nervous.
Lucky for me, my cousin Srini in South Florida has treated several family members who’ve all had great experiences. This year he finally gave me the okay to get the procedure now that I’m old enough, so I decided, why not? Everyone told me it’s a life changing experience that I wouldn’t regret. (Plus, who better to treat me than my own cousin?) To help those of you considering LASIK, I thought I would record the day-to-day so you have an idea of what to expect. It’s really not nearly as bad as you would think:
Mindy Kaling as Kelly on The Office and at the Emmy’s in September. (Photos: fanpop.com /beautybloggingjunkie.com)
The first time someone told me I looked like Mindy Kaling (a.k.a. Kelly from The Office), I didn’t know who they were talking about. But a quick Google search kicked off my obsession with the comedienne. It started with me reading her book, Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?, continued with me following her on every social media outlet, and culminated in my addiction to her new show The Mindy Project. It’s also turned into a Birchbox office favorite—who doesn’t like watching a hot mess doctor try to find love?
