Fashion weeks around the world have finally come to a close and we’ve carefully taken note of all the fantastic hair trends that appeared on the runway this season. We saw many styles from complicated updos to giant curls, but one trend in particular remained consistent throughout the shows and unlike the many avant garde gowns, this look can easily be worn everyday.

5 Boho Chic Runway Looks to Rock This Holiday Season

While the usual low-slung pony is great for day-to-day, holiday party season provides the ideal opportunity to experiment with a different style. That’s why we’ve teamed up with one of our favorite sites, Beauty High. For the last six weeks, they’ve sent over runway shots to inspire you to try something new and today’s their last post: Hairstyles perfect for ringing in the New Year.

If you’re the kind of girl who would rather wear her hair down every single day than toss it up in a sleek chignon, we have a feeling that the bohemian vibe that was spotted on the runways during the fall 2012/2013 fashion shows is just for you. From soft waves at Altuzarra to strict center parts and “twists” at Rachel Zoe, this season was all about being boho chic.

You can easily make this look work for you this New Year’s Eve. Loose waves don’t have to be messy—they’re not about frizzy hair, the key to the look is to have a slight wave that is just a touch disheveled. Below are some of our favorites from the runways for you to mimic!

The models on the runway at Honor had strict middle parts and barely-there waves. Their hair was given just a little bit of texture with styling product, dried, and let loose.

5 Runway-Inspired Ponytails For Any Holiday Occasion

While the usual low-slung pony is great for day-to-day, holiday party season provides the ideal opportunity to experiment with a different style. That’s why we’ve teamed up with one of our favorite sites, Beauty High. Each week, they’ll be sending over a few runway shots to inspire you to try something new for your upcoming festive fetes.

One of the biggest trends on the runways for the past couple of seasons has been the dressed up ponytail. From slicked-back to slightly disheveled, there is a pony out there for you, no matter your style. And we’re not talking about that haphazard, running-to-the-gym ponytail—we’re talking about a ponytail that you can wear to your boyfriend’s parent’s house.

With all of your holiday events over the next few days, having a couple of great sophisticated styles to rely on is a must. Check out a few of our favorite runway-ready ponytails to try below.

5 Braids You Can Wear to All of Your Holiday Parties

While the usual low-slung pony is great for day-to-day, holiday party season provides the ideal opportunity to experiment with a different style. With holiday season in full swing, having a few go-to hairstyles in your arsenal is pretty essential. Most of us have our favorite bold lipsticks that we keep in our purses to swipe on when we realize we have to run from work (or school) to three different holiday parties, but our hair can be a completely different issue. Luckily, the trends on the fall/winter runways had plenty of different styles to inspire us, from bouffants to braids.

Most of us have been braiding our hair since we were in elementary school, so we immediately took to this trend—and it’s one that has become a runway staple ever since Guido Palau sent girls down Alex Wang’s runway in spring of 2010 with disheveled side braids. This season, we saw the braid take on a few more forms, from the milkmaid to cornrows, and they all work equally well for your holiday activities. Click through to find some inspiration for your packed holiday calendar, and for how to adapt these looks to your off-the-runway life.

A Spring 2013 Trend You Can Wear Right Now: Blue Eye Shadow

One of the more novel beauty trends we saw emerge from the spring 2013 runways in New York was blue eye shadow. Sure, it’s been done before (we’re children of the ’80s so we know this shade well), but it hasn’t been mainstream for a long time. Plus, this modern incarnation is extremely wearable.

If you’re as excited as we are about the revival of pretty blues, you’ll be psyched to know it’s a shade that works year-round. We asked our web producer, Alicia, to give it a try (she’s a makeup junkie if ever there were one) in a way that’s very fall appropriate. Click through for her best tips and remember: when you’re rocking an unusual color on your lids, keep the rest of your makeup minimal!

1) Prime your eyes. This will increase the staying power of your look and prevent any unnecessary smudging.

2) Begin with a medium matte blue eyeshadow. I used MAC’s Blue Spill. Using a flat dense synthetic brush, lightly swipe color onto your lids. The trick is to avoid being heavy-handed—you want just a light wash of blue shadow, nothing intense or dramatic.

3) Now use fluffy shading brush to pick up a lighter blue shade, Bobbi Brown’s Electric Eel. Tap off any excess and then use windshield wiper motions to blend in the color including in the crease. Repeat until completely blended.

4) To add some dimension and open up the eyes, I added a Bobbi Brown’s Cornflower Blue (pale sky blue) eyeshadow to the inner corners of my eyes.

4) This look focuses on the blue eye shadow so only use a very sharp eyeliner pencil just to fill in any gaps between your lashes. Make small dashes directly into your lash line. You do not want visible liner. Add a small amount of mascara to just coat lashes.

5) Finish the eyes by filling in and setting your brows with Benefit’s Brow Zings.

6) End with a swipe of neutral lip color. I used Bobbi Brown’s Rosy.

Would you ever wear blue shadow?

If you’re not ready to experiment with your shadow, try a colored liner.

Chanel’s Runway Statement: The Faux Hawk Is So In

Photos: zimbio.com

There is just something so badass about pairing edgy hair with really ladylike clothing. Chanel took full advantage of that juxtaposition during yesterday’s spring 2012 couture show, which showcased gowns and gorgeous frocks galore (not to mention, 150 shades of blue), all paired with aerodynamic mohawks. Some were more extreme than others, but we especially loved the pompadour-style looks, which are definitely wearable for a night out.
