Ellingson in the class.
I’ve always loved playing sports and got into a really positive habit of running everyday while on the cross country, indoor, and outdoor track teams in college. Now, even with a hectic job, I still work out a lot. Not excessively, but consistently at least five to six days a week. That said, I have never worn makeup while exercising. Sure, on rare occasions when I am breaking out, I might dab on some concealer before heading to the gym, but it stops there. Given that I don’t really care what I look like when I work out (my running outfits are decidedly not cute and far from color coordinated), and I hate the idea of makeup running down my face as I sweat, it has never appealed to me.
But I guess if you’re a Victoria’s Secret model, you’re required to look good even while sweating. Yesterday, I came across images of Alessandra Ambrosio, Candice Swanepoel, Lily Aldridge, Lindsay Ellingson, and Erin Heatherton at Soul Cycle in Tribeca. They were there to raise money for Pelotonia, an organization that supports cancer research and treatment through bike tours. Of course, the models had their hair and makeup done beforehand—and somehow managed to look just as radiant before the class as after it.
But it’s not just these lingerie lovelies that dip into their makeup bags before sweating it out. When I was talking to professional runner and New Balance spokesperson Sarah Bowman for a Beauty in Action profile earlier this month, she admitted to me that sometimes when she competes, she applies an SPF liquid foundation and a waterproof mascara. Maybe I need to invest in some smudge-proof products? I guess the one thing I would consider wearing before a workout would be Stila’s Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Liner because it does not budge.
Do you wear makeup to the gym?
The other waterproof wonder you should invest in: Stila’s Prime Pot.
