Above: Balmain’s new hair care lines. Below: Balmain fall 2011 looks.
Storied French fashion house Balmain has been raising the bar for high fashion since the ’40s and has a following following of style-savvy individuals with big pockets to prove it. While we’d all surely love to add a few statement pieces to our wardrobe—specifically a $4,500 wool coat to pair with skinny jeans or a pair of suede pants pushing $4,000—I’d also like to keep my car. So for us beauty lovers, the announcement of the brand’s plan to launch two hair care lines, has us just as giddy as the fall 2011 collection.
Unfortunately, they won’t be available in the U.S. anytime soon, but if you hop across the pond right now, you can get your hands on these high-end products. And guess what? The prices won’t break the bank. The first set, Nutrition Intense, ranges in price from £29-£37 (about $46-$60) and includes a woody scented shampoo, conditioner, styling spray and masque, all targeted for normal hair. Products in the Hydrant range are similarly priced between £29-£39 (about $46-$63) and include a shampoo, ultralight conditioner, and hydrating spray with more flowery notes, all for fine hair. And since it’s only appropriate for a high fashion brand to value high fashion hair, each product works to create 10 percent more volume. For the vertically challenged like me, this brings us one step closer to the runway.
