5 Questions For…Eve’s Apple’s Michele Percy and Sari Turner

Up-and-coming online boutique Eve’s Apple has one of our favorite selections of fashion apparel and accessories—and we know how to shop. Started by Michele Percy and Sari Turner, the well edited e-boutique has a fantastic mix of cult-favorite brands, like Charlotte Ronson and Elizabeth & James, as well as lesser known gems, such as Adam Lippes and Mother. Lucky for us, we were able to snag a few minutes with the busy trendsetters to talk favorite designers, must-have products, and fashion (and beauty!) rules to live by.

Who’s your favorite designer?

M: I love Zac Posen. I am so excited because we just picked up Z Spoke by Zac Posen line for resort and it looks amazing. He has something for everyone. In fact, it’s a line that both my mother and I would wear.

S: At the moment, I love Jenni Kayne. She juxtaposes uncomplicated design with exquisite fabrics and the result is timeless pieces. Also, for almost every collection, she has a couple of leather pieces that I just cannot live without. When all else fails, I choose leather.

What’s your one can’t-live-without beauty product?

M: Next to clothes and shoes, makeup is my favorite thing. I am such a girly girl. And I really can’t narrow down my favorites to just one, I have three products I can’t live without: Bobbi Brown’s Pot Rouge for lips and cheeks in pale pink, Bobbi Brown’s No Smudge Mascara in jet black, and Colorescience Bronzer in It’s Only Natural.

S: Dermatal. It has been all over TV via its infomercial (first time I ever bought something off of an infomercial) and it really does reduce the puffiness and dark circles under my eyes.

Do you abide by any specific fashion rules? What about beauty rules?

M: Nope, I don’t have any fashion rules, I believe that anything goes (within reason). For beauty, I think the most important thing is to take care of your skin and when you apply makeup, not to wear too much. Products should bring out your natural beauty, not mask it.

S: I’m not a big believe in fashion rules, but at 51, I try not to dress too young for my age. A good tip: show off your legs — they are the last to go — but beware of going too short. Typically speaking, I do always wear something with a little bit of an edge, like a unique piece, and leather is a mainstay in my closet. As far as beauty, my feeling is that less is more. I wear very little makeup and am notorious for forgetting to add lip color. And I have always adored bangs. I think they are very youthful.

What was your most recent beauty purchase or find?

M: I just bought the Clarisonic Pro and absolutely love it. Everyone should add one into their routine. I also just bought Affinage Kitoko Oil Treatment, it makes your hair so silky and smooth.

S: Brocato Big Easy Volumizing Dry Shampoo. It works so well without giving your hair a dull look or sticky feel.

What’s your daily beauty routine like?

M: For hair care, I use Sam Brocato products. I use his Cloud 9 Miracle Repair Shampoo and Conditioner and I love his Mousse Volumizing Foam. I wash with Murad’s Clarifying Cleanser and my Clarisonic, and then I apply Bobbi Brown’s Extra Repair Serum followed with Bobbi Brown’s SPF 15 Tinted Moisturizer. For evening, I do much of the same, but apply a Murad Perfecting Night Cream and Rosebud Lip Balm.

S: I do very little. I work a lot, so I like to keep my regimen to a minimum, but I am a big fan of Trish McEvoy makeup. Many days, I only wear a tinted moisturizer and a little bit of blush. A also love Dove soap. My dermatologist swears by it and so do I.
