I discovered my love for manicures in high school. I’m dating myself a little by revealing this, but in my teenage years the French mani was the biggest nail trend—and it was definitely my favorite look. I had asked my mom for advice on the best place to go in Chicago (where I’m from) and as far as she was concerned, there was only one option: Elizabeth Arden’s Red Door Salon and Spa.
Getting a manicure with my mom at the Elizabeth Arden Red Door Salon and Spa in Chicago two summers ago.
So I made an appointment and I must say, I was hooked instantly. Not only are the nail techs (shout out to Margarita!) and service so great there, but the luxury of Elizabeth Arden’s standard warm cream manicure is beyond. Seriously, it puts your regular old salon-around-the-corner to shame. As my mom puts it, “once you go Red, you never go back.” And she’s right. To this day, a decade and a half later, it’s still still my go-to place when I’m home.
Having visited Elizabeth Arden on Michigan Avenue more times than I can count, I will say that my spa and salon trips have introduced several of my favorite products into my life. My first red lipstick was an Elizabeth Arden purchase, and I discovered the power of Prevage after getting my makeup done at a counter there years ago. Hands down, however, my favorite Elizabeth Arden find of all time is their Green Tea scent spray. I’m not even a real green tea fan (I prefer mint, to be honest), but this fragrance is incredibly fresh and feminine. It’s been around for ages and I never tire of it. I’ve finally realized what was probably inevitable—I’m an Elizabeth Arden girl through and through.
