A Care Package For My Younger Self
Frequent readers of this blog know that I am possibly the world’s biggest nerd. Aside from growing up loving comic book heroes and video games, I also always looked forward to going back to school each fall. Not for sports games or (awkward) dances in a gym, but because I really enjoyed buying school supplies—pens, Five Star spiral notebooks, three-ring binders, you name it. It was my way of getting a fresh new fall wardrobe each year (I was bad with the whole clothes thing), and having a little fun with small accessories. Now with the cool weather settling in, I’m particularly nostalgic for those days of handpicked Eddie Bauer backpacks and neon rulers.
In an effort to quench my nostalgia, I went hunting in the Birchbox Shop to find the back-to-school products that I would’ve coveted, and found a few items that I wish were around when I was in school:
1. Elizabeth Mckay Elephant Keychain: My early teen years were spent obsessing over learning how to drive. Once I got keys to my car, I would carry them (prominently) with me everywhere. This adorable keychain would’ve been much cuter than my nylon lanyard.
2. Triple C Designs Smart Retracto-Budz: I spent more than a few study halls listening to music on earphones hidden by the hood of my sweatshirt. This pair would’ve been perfect in a pinch since they wind up and hide themselves as soon as you give them a firm tug.
3. Poppin Notebook: I love me some spiral notebooks, but this brightly colored option is way more fun and stylish than the ones that were popular while I was in school.
4. Birchbox Exclusive Custom Pouch: This would’ve been the perfect in-between bag to take me from my middle school Sanrio days to my much more sophisticated teenage-self. If only chevron had been cool in the ’90s!
Am I the only one with a deep love of school accessories? Do you have a favorite school-bound item that you coveted?
