Between running from classes to club meetings to study sessions, college students are certainly busy bunch. That’s why Amy Levin, founder and creative director of CollegeFashionista, has pulled together these tips to help students—or anyone, for that matter—get out the door in a jiff and still look stylish.
It starts the night before: I know that the last thing many people want to do when they get home from a late night of studying or partying is tend to their skin. But taking time to care for your skin at night will save you tons of time in the morning. A proper skin regimen will reduce redness, pimples, and even out your skin tone. Establish a routine that, at a bare minimum, includes removing your makeup and moisturizing. The Yes ToTMFacial Towelettes are definitely a staple in my skincare routine. They are gentle enough to use everyday, but really balance out my skin with their natural ingredients, such as tomato and watermelon extract.
BB ready in minutes: When you regrettably hit snooze on your alarm four times and are running late for a meeting or a lecture, who has time to apply a primer, moisturizer, serum, SPF ,and tinted moisturizer? The answer: no one. That’s why I rely on Dr. Jart+’s Black Label Detox BB Beauty Balm. This five-in-one product leaves my skin looking beautiful and it seriously minimizes my prep time.
Miracle mascara: I don’t care how rushed I am, I always make time for mascara. I find that a few swipes makes me look awake, refreshed, and ready to take on the day. My product of choice is Benefit’s They’re Real! Mascara. Besides its adorable name, it gives you the false lashes look without the fuss. A great tip that I learned from Eva Chen, Lucky's EIC, is to blast your eyelash curler with your hairdryer for 10 seconds before using it. By heating the curler up, you will get a longer-lasting curl.
Keep it dry: I don’t know how I survived before dry shampoo. It literally saves me hours per week. When I wake up in the morning, I simply spray Oscar Blandi’s Pronto Invisible Volumizing Dry Shampoo Spray in my hair and let it work its magic before brushing it through. It gently absorbs my hair’s excess oil while also providing a major lift. It cuts down my styling time in the morning to mere minutes. I even keep a mini size in my purse for touch-ups during the day or to spruce up after the gym.
It’s all in the details: I am a big fan of keeping your outfit simple and relying on jewelry and accessories to freshen up the look. That way, in the morning, you don’t have to really think. Just throw on a white tee, a pair of leather leggings or denim cut-offs, a bright coat or jacket, and go from there. One of my favorite ways to make a statement is with a stack of gold bracelets. There is no right way to stack—just go crazy. Not only is this an eye-catching style, but it’s also a great way to inject personalty into your look.
