We’ve been planning our dream weddings since we were five years old. So it’s no surprise that we can’t get enough of Lover.ly, a wedding inspiration and e-commerce site that lets you search through pics of swoon-worthy gowns, bouquets, and everything else you need for the big day. Once a week, the ladies behind Lover.ly will be sharing their expert advice for getting through the craziness of the season—whether you’re standing at the altar or enjoying a view of it from the audience.
One of our favorite wedding details are the party favors. Unlike, say, your dress or your flowers, your favors are less about what you love and more about what makes your guests happy. It’s a spontaneous thank you note, a sweet way of showing appreciation for those in your community who have decided to take part in your special day.
Picking out your favors is like shopping for a gift—but that doesn’t mean your favors have to be complicated or fussy. So before you go busting your budget or spending hours making over-the-top favors, check out our list of five super-easy wedding favors you can give your guests.
Fruit jam is a total crowd-pleaser, guests of all ages can enjoy it. If you want to make it extra special, try an unusual flavor or something local—but you can’t go wrong with classic strawberry! Jam is super flexible as a favor, but we particularly love it for a rustic summer wedding.
Let the guests continue the party well after you’ve started your honeymoon with mini bottles of bubbly. And if you and your intended prefer whiskey or microbrews, that works too! You put a personal touch on your favors when you share your favorite drink.
3. Breakfast bites
If your guests will want to bubbly for a spell after your wedding, help get them through their morning-after hangover with a delicious breakfast-themed favor. We love combining local coffee beans (sure beats the instant stuff at the hotel) and some donut holes to help them recover after dancing the night away at your reception.
4. Maple Syrup
So few people actually buy real maple syrup anymore, which is why giving your guests a little bottle of the good stuff is such a nice treat. (And a leaf-shaped bottle makes this a gorgeous favor for an autumn wedding.) If you can find something local, great. If not, we hear Vermont produces some particularly great syrup.
5. Hot Chocolate
The perfect favor for a winter wedding, you can assemble this with a homemade recipe—or just use Swiss Miss! (Hey, it’s a classic for a reason.) Tuck hot cocoa mix and marshmallows into mason jars or cute mugs for a warm and toasty treat.
Step 1: Call a local bakery and place an order for your favorite kind of cookies. Step 2: Print out cute tags and get some cellophane bags. Step 3: Assemble everything with your future spouse a few days before the wedding. It’s so easy, and it’s a good option to have for kiddos if you want to send adults home with bubbly.
